Hi,
So I have an AquaMaxx HOB 1.5 skimmer in my sump. It isn't hanging. It's just sitting in the sump.
I'm considering getting a normal skimmer (BubbleMagus curve 5) instead because this skimmer is causing lots of microbubbles.
I used this skimmer on my nuvo fushion and it did the same thing. I even tried adding the bubble stopper, but that didn't help.
I will say that I did a deep clean on this skimmer before putting it on my new tank. I know that this causes microbubbles and the skimmer will need to be broken in.
However, I'm wondering if microbubbles will happen anyway because it's in a sump. I don't know.
Microbubbles drive me crazy, and I would spend $300 to get rid of them. However, maybe I just need to be patient and let the skimmer break in.
My theory is that the water level isn't deep enough or something. I can see air going through the return tube.
I don't know. What do you guys think? Should I just get a new skimmer?
I attached some pictures as well.
