I have officially had it with Hanna. I just went to reorder alkalinity reagent and it's 17.99 on Saltwateraquarium.com. this is ridiculous and they will keep raising the prices because they know people need to buy it constantly. I'm done I'm switching to Salifert test kits. Hanna has officially lost my business. I realize it doesn't matter to them but I refuse to go support this disgusting behavior. Shame on places like BRS and Saltwateraquarium.com for not standing up to Hanna. They cave to this MAP crap.

“Crys in my trident and trident NP reagents”

Lol

I still use Hanna to test against phos and Nitrates as the trident NP needs some sorting

You guys test parameters? I just don't think Hanna testers are very accurate. Ditched mine long ago. I think I have an ALK and HR nitrate kit somewhere. I agree the reagents are a rabbit hole you can't get out of once you buy into the product.

I dumped all Hanna except Phosphate a while back.

Salifert does the job just as well and is quicker :). YMMV
No way is any test faster than Hanna for Alk. Drop by drop and swirling is very time consuming and I struggle to see the color change endpoint.

You made a huge mistake and Hanna misses you so very much!

:loudly-crying-face: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:  I also have a few Salifert kits because I run out of Hanna reagents.:thinking-face:

Red Sea Alkalinity Pro is my favorite alkalinity kit: it’s Inexpensive and highly accurate. Titration kits are one of the most accurate tests for alkalinity.

If you like the convenience of Hanna, by all means try to find a cheaper source. Good luck! I saw some helpful responses in this thread. :)

Nah, it's not just the test - cleaning those Hanna cuvettes takes too much time. If you don't drop them and leave glass shards on the floor to get your bare feet next time. Or the cap rolls away under the sink. Or the reagent goes bad.

Salifert you drop the vial and catch on the bounce

i think you just need to look a bit harder, I get alk reagent at my LFS for 10.99hanna

I agree. The ALK is fairly accurate but I get major differences from my ulr phosphate. I will have one that says 0.20 and one says 0.03 so I don't trust the phosphate at all

How is that possible? I have looked all over the Internet. I think Aquacave is still 15 but it's just because they probably have stock left when they order more from Hanna they will raise the price to 18 bucks Hanna forces them to do it. Could they be really old reagents? And they bought them years ago so they haven't raided the price?

I am very annoyed with how little they put in the initial kit. I bought one in an emergency for copper and it came with 5 packs! I had to order more from BRS and pay for express shipping. Why would they only put 5 in. You spend 60+ you think anyone is only going to test 5 times?! It’s obvious greed as reagents are very cheap.

I'm buying salifert from now on the only one I have trouble with is the nitrate I can't seem to match the color with the chart.
