Hold on a second…. It’s got 2 mouths?!? Is the reason it’s been variably looking like crap because it’s splitting?

It definitely is splitting but I wouldn't attribute that to why it doesn't look so great. If anything it's splitting because it's doing so poorly to raise survival chances.
Included is one of the few times I've documented one of my own anemones splitting. Nobody shrivels up at all in that tank during any splitting event.

Yes, quite a different picture! The pattern does seem to be at peak light. Last night it looked like in the picture. I have a tricolour, torch and mushroom and all are doing really well. This guy just had a bad attitude. Hasn’t moved from this spot either. Tho it does have the advantage of being able to stretch out into the light but also retract away. The max par on my light is 350 a few cm under the surface, this is almost 20cm down which would be around 250. Also have white and red spectrums reduced. Any smoking guns here? Params (that I measure) don’t swing too much, sg from .025 to .026 KH from 7.5 to 9.0 and temp is tight at 25.5. Ca and Mg are a touch high, 500 and 1500. pH does drop to 7.9 or 7.8 in the am but up to 8.1 or 8.2 on lights out. Not sure what else I can do?

Is that 250 a guesstimated par or from an actual par meter? I still stand by my previous assumption of it being a bit bleached so assuming it actually is 250, that's certainly too high most of the time for an anemone in this situation along with bubble anemones (despite being really hardy) doing poorly in fairly new and unstable aquariums.

Your salinity, higher ca/mag are a non issue for btas but why is your alk swinging that much (testing error?)

Ok that I can work with. It’s 250 based on manufacturers info, don’t have a par meter but he plonked himself there early on so assumed he was happy. White and red max at 20% but blue and purple max at 100. Do think the colour is gradually coming back.
The alk in recent weeks appears to be being consumed faster, I assume (or hope) it’s coralline so am topping to up to 9 with 2 part but it’s back down within a few days. Is this a significant swing would you say? If so I’ll have to test daily atm

You think this is too much for a bta? Manufacturer says par is about 222 at the level of the bta. But assume that’s all the spectrum on 100%. My other tricolour now hid and fading it seems. Can’t see a problem with params. Must be lighting?

with the fluval marine light, you should be able to increase the blue and violet to 100% these lights are good, but the par value decreases exponentially with every % down below 100%.
this was my schedule when I was using them. They needed a longer time for the light to be on, but my tank loved it.

Do you think this is part of the Anenome or something else trying to strangle it? Because the second would explain it not opening up at the bottom…
looks fine, but not enough light.
