Hey y’all I have a 40 gallon tank and have about 8 fish , from a file fish to 2 clown fish, 3 different clown gobies, 1 dart fish, and 1 chromi. I have a pistol shrimp YWMG pair and want to add an anemone for the clownfish to have a “home”.
Any thoughts on a preference of anemones? And which ones y’all have had more luck with?
I have a wave maker which has very small opening do I need to worry about it gettint diced up in their? My filter intake is covered by sponge!
Tank is approximately 8.5 months old.

If looking for a host for your clowns, you need to research which nem is a natural host for your species of clown.
The best beginner anemone is the bubble tip anemone (BTA), but they are not natural hosts to ocellaris or percula clowns. However, many hobbyists have had luck getting them to pair up but it can take a long time.
Definitely get an anemone guard for all powerheads/wavemakers in the tank. The anemone inevitably wanders around the tank and ends up in the pump. It's happened to all of us and is a hard lesson to learn.
