...So I was doing my weekly maintenance using Dr Tim's Waste Away, dosed 30ml and left the bottle on top of tank. Unfortunately the cap was loose and bottle tipped over and 4-6 oz fell into the tank overnight, the tank is a 40 gallon breeder. The tank was completely cloudy the next morning, could barely see the fish and corals and I panicked. I didn't have any saltwater to replace, I had to wait till noon for my LFS to open, I ran to store and got 15 gallons and did water change. So far none of my fish died, one of my corals is hurting but feel lucky I didn't kill everything. The water looks much better, should I still remove more water or let it filter out?. My PH was a little low, 7.8-7.9, is there anything else I should do?, I thought with overdoing that much it would have killed everything...I got luck I guess

Waste away is just bacteria irc

No big issue, your tank probably dropped in ph just because so much bacteria was producing co2

Better to have a 1 micron filter nearby and quickly remove the excess bacteria. Skimmer will aid in this as well. Everything doesn’t require a WC which only dilutes vs corrects.

there's a significant carbon source in the media, approximately at the concentration of vinegar. So spilling a lot is like an overdose of vodka/vinegar. Ensure sufficient aeration. skimming is probably ok too.
