I've been testing Alk for a couple of months on a weekly basis its been right around 8-9.2 these results are right after a weekly wc. Just out of curiosity I checked it a day before a water change and got 7.84, 2 weeks ago it was 8.73 this was a day after a wc mind you, does coraline use this much alk when starting out because I don't have very much if any, its got a green, purply look at this point?

I see you had an increase after a water change which is normal for a synthetic salt to be above the 7.84 DKH? you reported before the change. Does coralline algae like a higher alk? Yes I would say so. As any calcification type of animal does. Coralline algae can be pink, purple and green.
