Hello again vette and thanks for the response! I’ll start pulling some when I get home, is there anything bad about having them? Considering they’re in the back tank? Also they receive no light, it’s completely blocked off from light alreadyLooks like filament hair algae
Pull as much as you can by hand
Block any light it’s getting
Bad no- just grows thickHello again vette and thanks for the response! I’ll start pulling some when I get home, is there anything bad about having them? Considering they’re in the back tank? Also they receive no light, it’s completely blocked off from light already
Could they be causing my nitrite to spike? Because for whatever reason my nitrite has spiked to 1ppm and its been around that area for a week now. I think I messed up the cycle of my tank by changing the rocks out completely and at the same time I did a 50% water change and got a new micron sock. Could that be the reason my ammonia and nitrite levels spiked and are taking long to fall? Because I don’t have any more beneficial bacteria? Because before I replaced all of my rock I asked a guy at my LFS and he said no that it’d be perfectly fine. I didn’t even think about that being the possibility until I realized that my ammonia and nitrite had spiked. My ammonia is going down though it’s currently at .25ppm but nitrite is up to 1.Bad no- just grows thick
They should be absorbing no3.Could they be causing my nitrite to spike? Because for whatever reason my nitrite has spiked to 1ppm and its been around that area for a week now. Do you think my tank is basically cycling again tho since I completely changed out my old rock and therefore lost all of that beneficial bacteria? They should be absorbing no3.
1ppm considered low
12ppm a whole different story

Should my RBTA be alright with that high of nitrite? My params arePartially
Add liquid bacteria such as micro bacter XLM during the day for the next 1-2 weeks
Tank should be fine as is as long as filtration running efficiently
They can accept up to.6Should my RBTA be alright with that high of nitrite? My params are
Ammonia- 0.25
Nitrite- 1.0
Nitrate 10
High range- 7.8
Phosphate- 0.25
Cal- 550
Alk- 11
Salinity- 1.025
Temp- 78
API, I know they aren’t the greatest, I’m also partially colorblind so it’s hard for me to tell a difference between the greens for ammonia. I’ve been meaning to convert to Salifert or Hana but it’s expensive. I have salifert for Calcium but haven’t made the switch for everything else yetThey can accept up to.6
What test kits are you using?
