My tank is presently as much an aiptasia garden as a mixed reef. I’m seriously considering getting a Copperband Butterfly and take a risk that it doesn’t consider my lps in particular yummy treats . My other options might be limited as I have a couple wrasses and a mantis in the tank. Opinions , thoughts ? I want to pull the trigger on a purchase of something by Friday as it’s gone on for too long..this is the tank in question so y’all know what’s in it…

I always have CBB and aiptasia was never a problem. Over Covid, my CBB died, alogn with a bunch of really delicate animals. Now my tank is an aiptasia galore. Just got my CBB pair loose in the DT and they start to thin this out a little. Maybe it is in my imagination but hope that in 6 months or so my problem is going to be history. They had a very hard time at first with he resident fishes. They had an attack of fin rots, but recovered with regrowth of the fins. Now my CBB pair are just two of the gang.

Mine fit in right away. He gets a little skittish when I’m working on the tank but otherwise flits about poking at the rocks

A quick update. The CBB which I’ve nicknamed lazily Copper, has done a slow steady job with the aiptasia . Much of the small and even medium ones have become lunch and he/she has picked eating frozen as well. Yay. I’m still thinking of taking my chances with some berghia soon to complete the task .

I have a file fish. I have had him for about a year now. He, along with my 2 peppermints, took care of my aptasia issue. I know that there are horror stories about both of these animals eating corals. I have been lucky I guess, because I have not expierenced that. I did ask the LFS if they could be brought back for a refund if they didn't do the job, and they saID that was fine. Just really kept an eye on them for a while after introducing them.
