Honestly I don't think there's a lot of difference for a 26HD, I'm not convinced it will make a huge difference. Overall it uses almost 3.5 Watts less power, so adjusting to this may meant less PAR getting to your coral.
52 HD:
UV - 156.40% (ie. max)
Violet - 135.11%
Royal - 118.87%
Blue - 77.21%
Green - 10.55%
Deep Red - 8.83%
Cool White - 27.10%
This program is very different. It makes use of the HD range of the Royal colour channel as well. It also uses an additional 12 Watts of power, than the standard AB+ program, so it should meant significantly more PAR getting to your corals.
Now, for those who are interested in how I came up with these numbers. The AI lights have a max amount of milliWatts (mW) they can handle and a max amount of mW per colour channel as well. Using this I worked out the total amount of mW used by the SPS AB+ program and then worked out the percentage of that total that was allocated to each channel. At this point I have to make an assumption, that the color spectrum of each colour channel, will stay the same, no matter how much power is being driven through it...as far as I know, because of how LEDs work, this is a fair assumption (open to critics of this, if I'm wrong). Lastly I calculated the equivalent power distribution between all of the colour channels, for the Hydra 26 HD and Hydra 52 HD, before converting everything back to percentages, to share.

What is your set up? I have 2 52 HD’s over my 50 gallon cube and a par meterYou guys still haven’t done PAR testing on the 52 HD. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate & watch everything you guys do. But, I’m an owner of the 52 HD, it’s AI’s flagship product (has been for years), you sell many, and I am just surprised it hasn’t been given the same evaluation as other lights.
The Hydra 26 HD isn’t the same thing as the 52, and doesn’t spread light the same way.
So will BRS do a Hydra 52 HD video with PAR testing and everything you normally do when you evaluate & dive into lights?
...I know I’d be pretty disappointed if you don’t.

you can do anything you like. I found that the default AB+ was too low for my liking so I have my whites at 70% for 5 hours. My schedule runs 3.5 hours ramp up just blues then 5 hours AB+ but 70% whites then last 4 hours of the day i use only blues and ramps down.Hi BRS,
I'm just looking for some advice from the pros, I've got a Hydra 26 runnign the AB+ programe specified on this post but I would still like to view my corals for the last few hours of the day in blue lights with little / no cool whites.
How would one achieve this goal without negatively affecting the corals?

As to why I use blues maxed out with 0 whites for 7 hours daily, 3.5 morning and 3.5 evening and use the 5 hours of blues and mostly white (70%) to for the coral growth.. Results below.We're actually in the process of revisiting this light fixture with our updated testing approach! Which also means more improved spectrum ratio mix with three specific goals in mind: coral metabolic function, eye pleasing tank, coral/fish pop & coloration.
The updated BRS Recommended spectrum isn't far off from the one we posted in this thread, but it does put out a bit more ooomph and PAR which some reefers needed.
Watch for the Hydra26 testing video to come out this Friday!
I believe they’re very similar but not identical, the spectrum regardless will give you good color and growth, I would recommend utilizing a par meter to gauge and set the intensity for your specific coral species.Hey Dave would the 26HD settings work on the 16HD?
