Hey there y’all. I’m just barely dipping into the realm of acros and I’ve had these two frags for the last couple months growing. I was noticing that when my lights are off there are some more purple regions than others. I was wondering if this was bleaching or if this is because of where my lights are placed. Also how would y’all go about removing hair algae from an acro as non of my inhabitants are eating it.
Temp 79 degrees
Salinity 1.026

The one in the first pic is almost dead. I see a couple of small branches that might be ok to frag and try gluing elsewhere, but that coral is 85% gone.

The second pic looks better, but its starting to pale and will follow the first one. Its not bleaching, bleaching is very quick, an overnight death.

From the greenish whitish colour of the rock I will guess this is a new tank? Unstable parameters, especially alk, will kill a acro like that.

I'm not expert, just started keeping them about a year ago, but maybe post some parameters and the acro experts will have more suggestion, good luck.

Here you go. Maybe they work this time
Yes they are posted now.

I see algae in a branch, first pic.

Do you have enough light? It looks like shading almost. The coral has not based out, at all. I don't think there is enough par.
I'm concerned about the spots I see below on the rock. What is that?

Same as 2nd pic. Looks like shading but I'm thinking it's your lights.
They don't appear to be growing since added to your tank. You said you've had them 2 months?

Tell us about the lights.

I think the spots are just some coralline algae. I can take a closer look at those later when I’m home. Ive had them about two months.

I think it might be shading too.

The lighting I have is a red reef led 90. It hangs over the middle of the tank.
I’m running it at 85%
