Tomorrow I’m having a delivery of some snails, a cleaner shrimp and two corals.

What’s the best way to acclimatise them?. Especially with the corals as I need to dip them, so do I dip them first and then float the bag in the water?.

I float the bags in a bucket of tank water
Powerhead and heater with tank temp

Then I poke a hole in the bag, and let the water mix

Then take the frags out of the bag, in the bucket

Then dip in a different container, with tank water, tank temp, and dip

When I rinse, tank water and temp

Some dips I mix, some I don't

Example: Lugols, tree oil(revive or coralRx), together. Then add the imidacloprid at the end

The Polyp Labs dip, I dip by itself, and it acts as an intermediary rinse off the first 3 dips

Then rinse in tank water, tank temp

Is that what you were interested in

And it also depends on the corals, if I skip a dip, or shorten dip time

Wear PPE for all of this. Imidacloprid is a neurotoxin

I blanked on Reef Primer, probably imidacloprid in my brain

Yeah great thanks. The corals are a toadstool leather and some zoas so I’ll be wearing gloves with them. I’m using dipx (red sea) for dipping.

You'll have to take the coral out of the bag to dip them so temp then dip and drop is how I do them.

Shrimp temp and drop.

Snails I temp then rinse in tank water then drop. This works for me. I try not to add any of the shipping water.
Thanks :)

Research that toadstool

They give off toxins for coral warfare

I got one in May, I did know that. Never had one before. I don't have one now

Zoas are fine. They are hardy through dip

I don't know what's in the Red Sea. Probably a tree oil. Does it smell like PineSol?

Oh I’ll have a look into that.
This is what’s in the dipx

Acclimations boxes are best used for pre-introduction and should not replace quarantine. it allows other occupants to become acquainted with new occupant and also to see if there is a potential fish that will oppose the new arrival. I float my bags to adjust temperature and then empty contents into clean buckets then add tank water to adjust and equalize salinity at minimum. Release under LOW light before lights out. Fish in shipped bags produce carbon dioxide and ammonia. The carbon dioxide lowers the pH of the water in the bag, That in turn makes the ammonia toxic to the fish.
