What’s going on I see Abyzz pumps discontinued on Bulkreef Supply.. Is it the price is to much and can’t move. Or the long life warranty. Or is it to hard to import to the USA. Just curious.. any in info would help before I spend that kind off money.

Go ask BRS in their chat on their site. I doubt you will get an answer but any answer given here is going to be purely speculation. Unless Abyzz is going out of business and someone knows that.

The parent company to BRS (Aperture) will tell you they are constantly monitoiring and changing what they stock based on trends and what their portfolio lacks. Standard answers.

On a side note, Sicce pumps are way cheaper, have a 5 year warranty, amazing service if you need it, and aren't going anywhere (from what I can tell.) They also have US based service

I’m just curious why anybody would spend that kinda money on a return pump! Lol… the cannons? Maybe if you got a 10,000 gallon aquarium but the returns
I don't own one but after having reeflos leak on the floor at least a dozen times over the years I would absolutely spend the money for an Abyzz over a Reeflo. There really isn't any other reliable options for a return pump/closed loop pump that is pressure-rated and has super high flow. I also would not want the noise of a huge pressure-rated AC pump in a living room.

Now most of us don't have giant return pumps in our living rooms but when I was doing tank installs I installed at least a dozen tanks with a Reeflo Hammer Head in a living area. These were normally 400+ gallon systems where the return pump was also used to run a manifold.

I have a harder time justifying the smaller Abyzz pumps. I am sure they are great but I don't think they would be more reliable than a couple Sicces or an old-school Iwaki and I personally don't mind the noise of smaller AC pumps.

I’ve used reeflo darts and golds in the past and don’t remember to much noise.. they did get a drip every so often but was always a easy fix… guess I’m still old school haha! I did just buy a Jaebo dcp 20,000k and I’m currently running that as my return and it’s dead silent with a great amount of flow for $199.00….. I replaced a Jaebo 15000 after 3 years of service.

I get it. I don't think I will personally get one but I once installed a 10ftx 4ftx3ft fish only tank in a pizza restaurant with a koran angel that was bigger than my chest. Plus a bunch of other fish including puffers and triggers. I installed an AquaUltraviolet Ultima 2000 fluidized filter along with a sump for the heavy bioload. I don't know if anything other than a Reeflo or an Abyzz could power that filter and the pizza restaurant employees might not notice the leak from the reeflo seal until it has gotten really bad.

Everyone who is knocking the pump or doesn't understand why one would buy it has no experience with the pump. I have them on my system and would never go any other way if I was doing it over. They are amazing; are absolutely silent AND push a lot of water.

Somebody here will say but but but XYZ is also silent....yes possibly close but without the flow to match. I had Sicce, I had RE, I had RO - nothing comes close to the performance of the Abyzz return pump.

As long as somebody else still sells them in the US I don't care what BRS does.

In fact I stopped caring what BRS does loooong ago - they can close shop for all I care. Nothing good comes out of the monopoly mentality.

Thanks for all the info on the subject. I know it’s a lot of money. That’s why I also thought. It doesn’t move fast on the shelf and made for the rich and not the average reefer. Will look into other pumps u all we’re talking about.. like always reef2reef forums are the best group of reefers.

Bertram Capital, the owner of BRS, is averse to generating revenue for competitors offering competing products. For instance, Coralvue has become a significant competitor; Hydros is threatening Neptune's dominance on the controller market. From their perspective, selling products that rival their own brands equates to financing their competitors. Consequently, they have decided to discontinue selling most products that directly compete with any brand owned by Bertram Capital.

A straightforward solution for vendors is to offer the item as a drop-shipped product. This involves nearly zero cost for listing the item on your website and eliminates the need to have inventory sitting on shelves awaiting sale.

What you're saying here does make some sense. But, are you guessing or do you know someone at Bertram who told you this? I'm just curious.

BRS is annoyingly dropping many of the coralvue products that they have had for sale in the past such as abyzz

BRS is dropping many items... Don't know the logic in this, but wish them well. I've purchased from them for many years but these days the only thing I buy from the is my Aquaforest products. Hoping the don't dump those too.
