UPDATE:

The tank is going through an ugly patch, unfortunately. The torch is kind of sad, and the Duncan and candy cane are struggling. The toadstool, mushroom, anemone, and all fish are doing well.

Nitrates got out of control, but are slowly coming back down. At some point we reached 0 phos, so we will begin dosing that today. We are also unsure of the accuracy of our refractometer, so we have ordered calibration solution to ensure our readings are correct.

Plan of action going forward will be consistent weekly water changes and water testing. We are also in need of some more CUC to take care of some algae. Cyano we believe.

Hopefully the next update is more positive!
This should help in the future, I recently use the refractometer calibration standard myself and it worked well.

Went down stairs to check on my tank (do this every morning haha) and notice some new growth on my zoas! Second picture is kinda hard to see, my phone doesn’t have the best zoom camera out there. (This was taken about 45 minutes after the lights turned on)

So far nothing satisfies me as much as new zoa polyps! After two months, it seems like all of a sudden all five of my frags are popping out new heads. How many more do you plan to get?

Man, I should update this build thread more, haha. Anyways, Tank is doing fine, other than some green-haired algae. I removed some of it today and have an urchin cleaning up the rest. Coral is all doing good except the zoas, which got engulfed by algae but removed that yesterday, so they should bounce back in a few days, and our torch, which has been doing so so for months now, but I believe that could be due to new tank syndrome. The rest of our coral (and gsp hitchhiker) are doing great! The fish are happy. Gobert has decided to build a sand mound against his hole and does not like it when I come close to the tank now. Below are some updated pictures; I've been playing around with the new iPhone 16 and wanted to see how well it takes photos.

The photos look great! Congrats on the GSP taking off, I love watching their steady growth and the baby polyps gradually growing!
I know! We’ve been wanting gsp in our tank (even though we understand how crazy it grows), and it’s fun watching it grow at a steady rate.

GSP and xenia have their reputations but they are also the first thing anyone comments on when they see my tank! I couldn’t tell from your pics though- is it isolated on a rock? At the rate it grows I’m glad I ar least did that much.

We have it on the very bottom of our aquascape. If it gets out of hand, I'll end up fragging some of it.

UPDATE!

Going to beginning to TLC to the tank today. Glass needs a good scrubbing, going to be taking a toothbrush to the rock that the urchin has missed, dipping some frags that have stubborn GHA, and doing some parameter testing and a water change. Everything in the tank looks like they're doing fine, with the exception on the torch. We've been fighting for our torch for some time now. Not sure how much longer it'l hold on.

Up until today, we've been doing PRN water changes, but that's changing. We will be doing weekly water changes beginning today. Hopefully we can start gaining back some ground with the GHA. Once that is taken care of, I'm hoping to add some more coral to the tank.
