When you are talking about Petco water, is this premade water in a box, like this, or do you bring your own jug and they make it? If it's the stuff in the link that's fine, but I would highly suggest getting a RODI setup asap, they pay for themselves quick.

Yeah, it's the premade stuff in the box. Sadly we don't have traditional faucet heads at my house, so I can't use an RODI unit without messing with my plumbing (which my mom and stepdad would not approve of).

Yeah, distilled+salt was the route I was most likely going, as I don't have any way to install an RODI unit here.
Same with me unless I make room in the garage. At some point I'm going to have to as main build won't be pragmatic with distilled or constant runs to the LFS who may have forgotten to change filters and now you have less than stellar water.

Look at instant ocean. Many use it including public aquariums and unless keeping sticks likely good enough. What I used 80/90s and still use today although main likely going Tropic Marin Pro. Unfortunately can't find that in small enough packets for nano tanks. IO has ten gallon packs making mixing a breeze.
