Let’s be honest, I have NO IDEA what I’m doing. But I’m doing it and it’s somehow working

I know, I’m shocked too.
I go home a smidge early and caught my lights on all blues before ramp down so the pictures will be under orange filter.

I’ve been talking about a coral I got way in the early “test sps” weeks of my journey and out of 4 testers 2 are doing fantastic and 1 bleached out and the other was doing some stn and turned brown. I snipped the tips and let it ride.
Well, about a month or two has gone by. Maybe my time perception is off, but the coral started to take a turn l, this coral is originally blue with some yellow polyps. At least that’s what it looked like when I got it.
Well it’s encrusting, and the branches have healed. And I finally get to see it, for lack of a better term, take off.

Most others are slower growing and some doing amazing and I’m always going back on my own pictures and thread to see progress.
Pictures only do so much justice but it’s still amazing to see these grow.
I have some more frags coming in tomorrow so I’ll be tossing those in as well.
Here’s more growth progress.

I ordered a battlebox from battle corals. Actually about 80% of my coral is from BC. I’m a huge fan of Adam and his work.
So let me show you what I got.

Skinny love. A. Speciosa
Battlestag. A. Pectinatus
Citizen Toxie. Tabling acro
Acropora Tenuis.
Miss scarlet. I’m unsure on this one as well.
Insanity. A. Tenuis

All in all. Super happy.
Gonna let them hang out for a week before I figure out where they’d be happy.

Okay so there’s been a few things I’ve been battling this week aside from my algae but like always I don’t really freak out. I take action with elbow grease then let the tank take the wheel.

One big issue I not only didn’t have time to diagnose but with the time I did have it allowed for process of elimination.
The problem? Microbubbles. I’m new to this and I didn’t really notice it until it was brought up to me so once I saw it it was heckin hard to NOT see it.

I cleaned my skimmer and nothing but the piled up detritus was nice to clean off. Cleaned my return pump and lines, nothing. Checked for minor air leaks nothing.

I asked a few old dogs in the hobby I know and they told me to turn my return pump speed one click and see how that goes and within an hour my waters crystal clear. Amazing.

Last week I got a box from battlecorals.
Adam NEVER disappoints.

I let them chill out for a week and today I placed them on the rock work and gonna let things grow before I do a little make over because although I like my scape I’m trying to factor how everything grows.
One thing I’ve noticed from people is disappointment from people that receive frags that don’t look like the photo. I’m fortunate enough to have people tell me the coral won’t show ANY of that until it starts to grow (results may vary). Aside from that I’m extremely happy with my frags and how they’re growing.

I sometimes find myself coming back to reference the before photos to looking at the directly.. and it’s inspiring me to keep growing and going.

Cheers.
