Unfortunately budget calls for 3 black boxes. 2 i picked up for 100 fruition my reef store after an upgrade (only 6 months old) and the third from a teardown my dad bought stuff from so free. But hey 3 x 16" makes 48"

Update time :) got some free time this weekend and was it productive. Staining was done a couple of weeks ago but forgot to post (Polly is a PITA). Still some finishing work to be done on the Polly to remove some drips that I didn't notice till my wife pointed out and a bit of painting left for the two cabinets but coming along well id say hopefully next week I'll take it in and start the plumbing and maybe the sump too :-D

So update... tank is doing pretty good. Everything is pretty happy but still getting used to placement. I'm loving not running for socks at all (I don't miss them). I do 10 gallons of water change aweek and all my numbers stay good and low. Im happy with the stand design because it gives me a lot of space for working I just wish the canopy was a bit taller but my wife didn't want it taller than 6 foot so couldn't do much about it but it does give me perfect standing height with the lid open.

Here afte some pics I took last night just for fun :)

I am about the same stage as you setting up my 90g. I am now curing the dry Pukani rock that I bought, and just started making my own sump so I can get a bit more volume and have room for the future. I am planning on 36" x 16 x 18" tall. The extra depth will let me put the socks behind the skimmer and have a much larger fuge, then room for reactors or a Marine Pure or Brightwell bio brick in the return section... or at least that's my plan. Also planing on a separate ATO above my return section. As far as the plumbing goes, I was planning on a durso style dual overflow and running the return over the back since I only have 2 drilled holes (same as you I'm guessing). Good luck with your build, I will plan on watching this thread to follow your progress.
How did your tank go? Just wondering.

Super nice setup and has given me great ideas for my newly acquired 90g future setup. I would love to see an update and suggestions of anything you would have changed if you was starting over.

Tank is doing great, i have not used filter socks at all after the first 2 months lol which i love. I do a 5 gallon water change once a week just because, the fuge does a great job and the fact that the ball tumbles is great. Thankfully because of this I have never had algea issues (nock on wood), any that grows is in the fuge thanks to that light.

Only thing i would change is to have a taller hood and better lights but my wife didn't want it taller and budget dictated the lights, but i would add a third black box to get rid of my dark zone.

Other than that a larger return pump because the 10000lph runs at 63% which is fine but the skimmer needed a separate 4000lph pump because it's just too big of a beast and took more water than it could push on its own.
