Ok so I have contacted a few people to get a quote on a tank that size and while doing that I can a cross this 145x75x60cm which is actually decently bigger than 150x55x65 and it has a bigger sump that most people are willing to build at 120x50x33 the only downside, it is used and has a small scratch

But that small a scratch shouldn’t make too much of a difference especially seeing the price difference.

Thia tank is ≈ 170gallons for 360$USD so I am wondering if anything here would pose a problem? I got a quote for 150x55x65 for the same price but it would cost another 65$ for the sump upgrade and this just seems like a much better deal.

The cabinet also seems a little scuffed.

I think it looks awesome and I do actually like the rock work.
Sorry works crazy. I’ll catch up later.

Well now I have a lunch break so here are some quick thoughts.

A perchlet will probably work but being another bottom dwelling fish may figh with your gobies for territory.

For lighting I have 200W running above my 5’x1.5’x2’ tank which works well for LPS and softies.

Thanks, I am now pretty keen on the perchlets/Pygmy basslets as at time of buying they are around 2cm I would be more worried about something eating them or being aggressive to them than them bullying something else.

@i cant think I am looking at protein skimmers and I stumbled across a DIY protein skimmer rated for 1000-1500 liters and is almost the same price as the bubble curve 7 but I don't know how reliable it is? What do you think? It needs to be submerged 25cm Power: 2x 40W Dimensions: 26x40x55cm

So it was a no go with the used tank because it was not in great condition however I am now looking to get a 180x65x75cm 180gallon aquarium custom build but there are still some things to bring into consideration before confirming this whole thing including weather it is possible or not to bring it to Australia.

New Plans
3x Yellow banded possum wrasse PE
3x Small pink streak wrasse
1x Carpenter’s flasher wrasse
1x Yellow stripe clingfish PE
2x Blue stripe pipefish PE
1x Juvenile mandarin dragonet PE
1 Small scooter blenny
2x Baby clown fish
1x Small lawnmower blenny
6x Small pictus blenny
1x Yellow clown goby
1x Green clown goby
1x Yasha hase goby
1x Wheeler’s shrimp goby
2x Red firefish
1x Valentini puffer
1x Pinkbar goby
1x Multicolor Lubbock's fairy wrasse
2x Highfin perchlets
2x Little sea moths (some species that doesn't get over 6cm) PE
4x Crinoid clingfish (Can crinoid clingfish live without a host in a predator free environment?)
1x Dragonface pipefish PE

PE= Pod Eaters

That brings the total to 10 pod eaters, is that acceptable in a 180 gallon system @i cant think ? It will be a minimal rockscape for the sea moths to have plenty of roaming space and sand will be collected from a clean beach for the added benefit of tons of the little invertebrates little sea moths love eating and copepod breeding grounds. How does everything sound?

I just found out that a candy basslet could be nice but they are pod eaters too.
given enough rockwork and enough pods / types of pods in the beginning you should be pretty set for a couple live feeders in an 80 gallon,
i have a 65 going that’s been up for a couple months and i’ve added tons of pods/species and i feed phyto daily (every night i check there’s hundreds everywhere) safe to say my population is stable enough for me to get mandarins and a pipefish like i want,, beyond that i’m setting up a nano pod only tank (mostly just to have in my room) cause they act different when no threats are present & good way to have a separate batch in case supplemental feeding is needed !
