Hi all,

Currently have a Fluval 123l (32.5) tank that has been up for over a year. I also have a fresh water 60g marineland that I want to convert to salt and transfer the 32 over. I know the bottom is tempered and I want to most likely drill and do a sump. Question is if the 60g is worth starting because of how narrow and tall it is or should I try to get a different tank like a 75g?

I have a 65 gallon and it's great dimensions it's basically a tall 40 breeder. If you can go 48" wide then a 75 is hard to beat.

Honestly, if you have the space to go with a deeper tank, I would. This is my 38 gallon, which has the same depth, but is 4 inches shorter in height and a foot shorter in length. My tank is doing really well, excuse the dirty pictures, I swear it looks great in person! I don't think an additional 4" of height would be an issue for cleaning and maintenance, but I don't have much room for more than one "plane" of rock and coral if I want to leave room at the back and front of the glass. What this means is that I have to be careful about shading when I place corals anywhere but at the top of the rocks. The advantage of a tall, skinny tank though, is that your main viewing window is quite large!
