I'm a mega noob at aquariums and just wanted more space for my 2 inch red eared slider but I think now I'm in too deep. I bought him a 50gallon Seaclear tank (as mentioned) and i cant seem to find a good all-in-one filter i can just use out of the box. everything either doesn't fit in the little holes or has an intake that would require the water level to be too high for him to sunbathe. Any simple products i can use or an easy combination? I'm overwhelmed by the options.

Thanks in advance :))))))

A cheap option is to use an air pump and a foam sponge filter( or 2). Weekly water change to help keep the water clean.

Otherwise, a canister filter, external with hoses hanging over the edge of the tank. Looks funny but it does a better job of cleaning the water. The problem with the tank is that it is not made for easy modifications to the internal AIO system that it came with.

Post a picture of the tank and let us see what you have to work with. Also, other folks may have some better ideas for you?

First of all welcome!
Good for you for wanting to create a great habitat for your RES. I think I am about to go through this myself because my other half works a few days at our local animal shelter and there is a RES there and she is threatening to bring it home. The shelter has few provisions for a turtle and it is not in a place where the public can see it and adopt it.
For filtration, there is the canister filter that was mentioned before. ( which I will probably use because I have one). Also there is the internal Sicce Shark which may work well because of the ease of cleaning. There is the Marineland Magnum internal canister filter that uses a reusable polypaper filter.
