Hi all,

I have a 50g tank which currently has 2x clowns, 1x Royal grammar, 1x midas blenny. I want to add the quantity of fish but are struggling to find good compatibility so was looking for suggestions. Coral wise I have a Hammer, blasto, leather, toadstool, GSP and acan so don't want anything that will nip any of them.

Would love a black spot foxface but beleive my tank is too small unfortunately

I have a similar stock in my 40 and I was able to ad a trio of chromis with no problem. Cardinal fish would also probably be fine.

Some of my considerations are
Banggai cardinals x2

Blue chromis x2 (are they OK with clowns ?)

Firefish (risk with the midas blenny)

Mccosker's wrasse (think this is fine)

Dwarf angles (worried about eating my corals)

Foxfish (as above worried about size)

Anthias (can be a pain to feed)

Torpedo gobys ?

Springeri damsel (will it clash with the clown)

Could consider a yellow coris wrasse (halichoeres chrysus) if you have a sandbed. I have one in a similar sized tank with a pair of clowns, royal gramma & PJ Cardinalfish and it’s a model citizen. Definitely quirky / shy but awesome pop of color & known to be a pest eater (although I’ve not seen much with mine. Cardinalfish are an option too.

I agree with everyone saying cardinal fish. Mine has been a great addition to the tank my wife said he looks like a grumpy old man but he is a really chill fish.

My blue chromis and clownfish both use the same corner of the tank as home base with no aggression.

Perfect looks like might have a winner with 2 banggai cardinals, 2 blue chromis and the mccoskers wrasse then I did consider a yellow wrasse but with the Midas blenny being yellow was looking to mix up the colours a bit !

Foxface is too big for your tank. They get massive in the first couple months. Got mine under an inch and he is huge now. Been with me a little over 6 months

Anthias need to be in schools so if you got them that would probably knock out anything else space wise. Cardnials are awesome. Just make sure you fine someone who can sex them and get you a male and female! That damsel might be okay if added last. A cherub dwarf angel stays small and they are super cute! Never had any issues with angels eating my corals when I had corals

I would say there's no guarantee, but I have two clowns with a springeri damsel and yellow watchman goby in a 20 gallon tank and there have been no aggression problems so far
I've had the clowns for 14 months, and the damsel for 8 months

I think a trio of anthias would fit perfectly with that tank and livestock, and add a lot of motion

I have a 56 gallon tank so very similar. I also have a Midas blenny, royal Gramma, and I have 1 ocellaris clown. I also have a tomini tang, a Coral Beauty (they can be nippers but I have never had a bad one), a neon cleaner goby, a yellow watchman goby, and 2 masked gobies. All the fish get along very nicely. I have also had cardinalfish and citrin gobies.
