Isn’t that fluorescence a sign of bleaching?
Coral Fluorescence is a indication of the health of corals, they have fluorescing proteins that act as a sunscreen to harmful uv light, so when the quantity or intensity of FP's decrease that's how you know they are bleaching.

Yes that makes sense, if I remember correctly the intensity of the proteins will increase and the overall quantity of the proteins will decrease right before bleaching.
