I’m putting 4 Xr15 over my 525xl, which is a 6 foot tank. As soon as my other 2 units come in I will post some par numbers for those interested, should have them early next week.

I ruled out Radions for my new 180 based on the cost versus coverage issue. Am looking at both Kessil and Orphek because of the need for one less fixture. Am also holding out for the release of the new Phillips and ATI Stratons before making a final decision. Also would consider how many of us started out with planning for just softies and quickly wanted to move on to sps.

The tank is 59x22x23. I have the par meter, but I still only have 2 of the lights. The others should be here soon. Local place ordered them for me. So far with just the two lights mounted close together I was completely Underwhelmed by the Par numbers.

I have them set to AB+

I was running them at 8” awl and I was running them at 50% overall intensity. Par was in the double digits about 9 inches below the waterline. I turned them up to 100%, and Lowered them to 6” awl, and now the par readings are 300-330 at about 9” below the waterline with about 150 ish on the sand.

My tank has two islands for corals so 4 looks like it will be just right. If I had a solid scape I’d be ordering a 5th xr15.

Once I get the other lights I’ll report back

5th would help out the spread for sure, but probably not needed. Im getting 450 across the board halfway down at 60%

What height do you have them awl? Also are you running the blues or the pros? What program?

AB+, I got the blues, though I wish I got the pros, the blue is a really nice looking, don't get me wrong, the corals love it, but I wish there was a bit more hint of white in the day time.

I think you are getting a little more par from the AB+ with the Blues than I am with the Pros, since it is optimized for that spectrum. I’ve been playing around with it a little more and have found more par by using the following:

6” awl

UV - 100%
Violet - 100%
Blue - 100%
Royal - 100%
Green - 20%
Red - 20%
Warm White - 20%
Cool White - 50%

Overall Intensity - 100%
Schedule Intensity - 100%

It will be interesting to see what adding the other 2 lights does to PAR.

I dont think it will work@OP. I have 3 Xr30 pro gen 5 over a 180g, mounted a little high granted. I now run them at 100% of schedule intensity on AB+ (70% graph intensity). I am getting 200 sand bed, 400 waterline. at 50%

Why not either start with three and if needed could add a T5 hybrid fixture in the future? I’ve had good luck on good par and light spread.

I run 2 XR30 and 1 XR15 (Gen 4) with the Aquatic Life Hybrid over a 180 and get a lot of par. 180-200 on the sand bed at 35% output plus T5.
