Yea I've been there. My last job it wasn't uncommon for me to work 60 hours a week and I got paid for 40. About 3 years ago I switched jobs and now I'm a Non-exempt salaried employee, which is the best of both worlds. I'm guaranteed 40 hours a week and I still qualify for the FLSA guidelines including overtime pay.

I did take about a $10k pay cut, but it was well worth it. My current job is very laid back. I'm never rushed to do anything and I only work with about 5 people and we all get along really well.

I test slot games for our states lottery commission. It's in our states law that before any hardware or software is allowed to be used in the state it has to be tested. For a while I was just doing online gaming so I'd play blackjack on my phone all day.

Very true and they absolutely get a good chunk, but in theory my job is to make sure that no one is getting cheated (the player or the casino).Hey, the State has to make sure it gets its cut ….
There is a whole other group of employees that make sure the state gets their share.

It gets boring when it becomes your daily job, but honestly I goof off probably as much as I actually work.
