Ok. So it has been roughly two Months since I hooked up my Calc Reactor. I have MTC or Marine Technical Concepts reactor. It is a two stage reactor so that any excess CO2 does not drive my PH down, but instead, bleeds into the second chamber to continue to dissolve the media. I am using Coarse media by Two Little Fishes. My tank is a 180 predominately SPS with lots of montipora, Millies, Acros.
I could not be happier. My alk has settled in at right at 9.8 - 10.2 (depending on the test kit I use), and Calc is 440 with MG at 1380. It is like a mack truck I tell you...I mean I test week in an week out and the readings barely fluctuate.
I was dosing 2 part ESV B-Ionic with dosing pumps. But the reactor is much more steady in my opinion (it delivers 24-7 with no real swings) and is a much more natural method.
I still dose Kalk at night mainly to keep the PH up and help with skimming, but I am tempted to just pull the kalk altogether.....
