Finally got all my rock in. What do you think? My goals were to have terraces where I could. Having only 18" wide and 2 overflows made it very difficult. I'll leave a min. of 2 inches around back, enough to get a turkey baster or siphon tube back there and at least 3 inches in the front. also wanted some sand areas, lots of crevices and openings/swim thrus. Haven't done anything to the rock yet (trimming, rods, cement, etc.) Center pc will have gsp, palm cloves on it with a leather on top. And another small rock on top if I didn't add it for the pic (for the leather)

I like the look.

Some feedback from experience and learning the hard way:

Tall steep rock work makes coral placement difficult. Especially if you are doing SPS due to shading.

Keep in mind the future of the tank. If you plan to have SPS colonies, do you have enough space between the top of the rock and water surface?

I know on the tall and steep as my other tank is like that. I've got lots of sloping terraces that I think will help in that regard. I hope... With the tank being only 18 wide, less with the 2 overflows, it wasn't an easy tank to scape. I also thought about doing some "floating" overhangs but that would shadow the sand below. If the tank with water is at 20-21 inches (22 tall) then that gives me anywhere from 6-8 inches depending on which rocks--some a bit more. Next step is to try to "assign" areas of coral placement

Totally understand that! I went from a 24" wide tank with massive overflow (took up 5") and spoiled myself with a 30" wide with external overflow box.

Good luck with coral placement! That is always an area I struggled in.

I like it. Love island aquascapes. Nice separation and I love that odd shaped piece in the off center.

thanks @DangerDave Now to start putting the bits together in groups, labeling them, marking with a sharpie the edges and cleaning the rock. If I'm lucky, the tank will be up on the stand this weekend!

That's a great idea. When I did my current aquascape, I assembled it exactly the way I wanted it, took it apart, then struggled to put it together in tank.

@DangerDave I had that same issue with my first tank. Saw someone else had used labels with zip ties. I added doing the black pen, just tiny marks. And close up pictures as well. going to also do some cementing of key pieces before removing them
