I am rebuilding my 120g stand and sump. Might build a hood and restructure the aquascape. I am tired of the tight quarters of my tank stand and sump... so why not build a new one?

Figured I’d share my journey with my r2r family. If you have any suggestions please feel free to chime in. Happy reefing!!

Last night I completed the frame of the the stand. I’m going with a completely open concept front (I’m tired of things being in my way. I had to sister 2 2x6 together to maintain structural integrity (first picture). This thing is a beast of a stand lol I’m sure it could probably hold 4x of what I’m going to put on it. I am going to wrap it in old redwood that I am able to salvage from a barn at my ranch. I’m shooting for a modern rustic look so stay tuned! Dimensions are L- 66” W- 21” H- 38”

interesting. are the sistered 2x6's going to be on the top, bottom or both? i'm guessing, but not sure, that the base of the stand is upside down in the above pics since i don't see them on the floor.

The 2x6 is on top since it will be baring most of the weight. 2x6 top with 3/4” plywood to lock it in.

Yesterday was the big move. I have to say I was a bit nervous moving all of my fish and corals out and back in. I think I was more stressed than the fish. Everything turned out great! I am missing a fire fish but I think it might be hiding in a rock still. Pics are the finished product... well kind of. Still might build a hood and I have to put doors on the stand.
