I'm excited to start working on a new project, a 100'' long shallow reef tank! Previously, three smaller shallow reef tanks covered this wall.. but I always had the dream of creating one large, low-tech, system and having lots of mangroves, macro algae and nano critters in it. Above the water I want to create an area with air plants, orchids, and other plants commonly found around mangroves in the wild.

After months of preparation and collecting rocks, sand and equipment.. yesterday the aquarium was delivered to my home. We had to carry it up two flights of stairs, into my bedroom in the attic. It took a lot of effort, but we made it! This project is going to be challenging, but I have good faith in it! No sump, no skimmers, low-tech!

Stay tuned, I hope to share more updates soon! :)

That already looks awesome - looking forward to you filling it in!

I'm surprised the tank isn't braced in the center somehow.
Yeah, luckily it wasn’t necessary since the tank is so shallow, 12”. It would have ruined the aesthetic I think.

Super excited to see where this tank goes. Saw a post on FB about you taking down your three tanks and was very interested in what you’d replace them with. And this doesn’t disappoint!

Really neat tho i’ll have ether made it more deeper or just made it like a frag tank lagoon in the middle of the roof if the room alone is just for the tank propusese alone like Mark from fragbox tried the fragoon concept then closes it
