My reason would be to win the Natura would be several;

1/000 dimming increments which would make dimming absolutely flicker free.
The innovation that the LED board and control PCB are all on one board simplifying the electronics
Metal reflectors that will not yellow or tarnish.....ever
Dual LEDs with two different different spectrum in each LED which further enhances no hot spotting and seamless blending of the spectral range.
Lightweight (7.5lbs) which means less stress on the glass when using tank mounts.
Arguably the best spectrum for coral growth.
Aluminum top enhances heat exchange and gives a professional appearance.
Solar/Lunar cycle the best ever. Actually follows the cycle in your location.

DAILY QUESTION: How does the Sun & Moon Synchronization feature of the Natura iCon benefit your reef tank?
It sounds like a really cool feature. However, with the majority of my fish being captive bred/raised, I'm not sure. With corals, again mostly aquacultured here, but I figure if it works in God's fish tank it has to work in mine! Right?

Not just my tank but all tanks using the Natura. This is a light replica of nature's lighting as it is on the reefs. For hobbyists experimenting with coral spawning, this is a godsend.

DAILY QUESTION: How does the Sun & Moon Synchronization feature of the Natura iCon benefit your reef tank?
It would be interesting to see the effects of that over the course of a year. Will it encourage spawning perhaps? Will the corals benefit from the natural cycle of light? Experimenting with that is a cool though

DAILY QUESTION: How does the Sun & Moon Synchronization feature of the Natura iCon benefit your reef tank?
DAILY QUESTION RESPONSE: In my humble opinion, the ability of the iCon light to synchronize sun and moon cycles helps in the following ways.

Sunlighting affects:

  • Photosynthesis: Coral reefs are often home to symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae, which live within the coral tissues. These algae require sunlight to photosynthesize, providing energy to the corals and contributing to their growth. The amount and quality of sunlight can influence the productivity of the reef.
  • Day-Night Cycles: The Sun also drives daily light cycles that influence the behavior of many reef organisms, including their feeding, reproduction, and other activities.

Lunar Influence:

  • Spawning Events: Many marine organisms, including corals, time their spawning events with the lunar cycle, often during a full moon. This synchronization increases the chances of successful fertilization by ensuring that many individuals release their gametes at the same time.
  • Light Influence: The Moon’s light can also influence the behavior of reef organisms, such as guiding nocturnal activities.
Lunar Cycles also change the durations of sun and moon, which thereby influence the natural bio cycles that occur in the ocean, which greatly enhances our hobby experiment to replicate nature.

DAILY QUESTION: How does the Sun & Moon Synchronization feature of the Natura iCon benefit your reef tank?
In the past my Metal Halides worked amazing! 400se and 250De only had one feature: On or Off. Corals adapt given the right conditions. Sun & Moon Sync sounds like the saying " I will give you the moon and the stars! ". lol I am pumped to see this feature in action and how corals respond! make me sell my current fixture!!!

Official Entry: Always wanted to try Orphek lights, Would be really cool to see the sun and moon sync. Looks like this would provide great coverage and minimal shadowing.
