Bonus daily question.
Cost and spread were probably the most important. I chose an Orphek because I could get a cheap gen 1 and upgrade it.

DAILY QUESTION: What are factors that you consider important when choosing a reef light? Why did you choose the light that you are currently using on your reef tank?
spread, heat mitigation(lens/diode life extension...), and connectivity(ease of access and controlling from an app)

i chose the two hydra32's and reefbrite kits because i already had a hydra and reefbrite kit, and saw a deal on another pair- so i went for it. when i upgrade lights i'm going 1-2x reefi uni pro 2.0.

Bonus entry: Daily Question

I chose the OR4 based on controllability, look, intensity and price.

I like a very well rounded lighting option when buying lights for my tanks.

Official Entry: I've been a Radion follower for many years. Recently purchased a Orphek OR3 system and loving it! Would be awesome to get more Orphek lights for the frag tank. I've never won anything in my life (seriously) so this will be a shock but hey -- you don't win unless you try, right? ;)

Good luck everyone!

Official entry: I just got my new 55g set up and running but using an underpowered old LED light. It would be great to be able to replace it with a top of the line light fixture.

DAILY QUESTION: What are factors that you consider important when choosing a reef light? Why did you choose the light that you are currently using on your reef tank?
Price, spectrum, ease of use, and reliability. I chose Noopsyche for those very reasons. I can control them with the app or controller as needed but for the most part, I program my ramp up and down and then set it and forget it for the most part.

DAILY QUESTION: What are factors that you consider important when choosing a reef light? Why did you choose the light that you are currently using on your reef tank?
I think that LED tech has advanced far beyond the past in terms of intensity, spectrum, spread, etc. I'm no longer chasing PAR (even on my SPS tank). Several other factors in choosing a reef light: reliability, form factor (e.g. I hate power bricks!), mobile app functionality/ease of use, and how it integrates with my controllers (Apex, Hydros). Once I set up the light schedule, I rarely touch it again.

I currently have 4 XR30 Radions (1xG6, 3xG4 Pros) on the 5' lagoon/frag tank. I would love to convert them to Orphek to match my new 12xOR3 lighting system!
