You are Correct @NY_Caveman,Am I wrong that you are assuming your evaporation rate will be the same over time? Not over the day, but over months.
GREAT!!!Wally we will sustain your pH at 11. Your corals will be growing inches per week
No thanks.
I can't super saturate the way my Kalk reactor works (which is a good stability thing)
The reactor allows me to dump 500 mg jar of kalk into it and it's always just saturated levels (if my flow is reasonably slow).
I like it that way since no need to add Kalk for weeks.
I don't dispute that BRS Kalk may be better than other brands for purity, and maybe concentration (which I doubt).Yep, sounds good. I will warn you as I said previously though, the new Pharmaceutical grade kalkwasser from BRS is no joke! That stuff seems much stronger than their previous stuff.
Yikes.Actually in the BRS videos they test various kalks, they all have different Alk/Cal concentrations based upon chemical compound/structure. Apparently it can be a big difference. None of them for example were without copper, but some were much better than others. BRS was not the highest in Alk either I believe.
But yes, I definitely expect you to continue the ESV. Or to finally take the plunge and use ATI Essentials. Even myself with a calcium reactor have been missing the ATI Essentials. I don't think anything out there is it's equal aside from a calcium reactor (which basically acts as a medical grade peristaltic doser, which 24/7 smooth dosing).
In theory, if there were such a thing as a perfect infallible doser -- it would be 100% equal, possibly superior, to CalRX with modern 3 part solutions.
I am pretty convinced at this point, I won't be doing Kalk in my SPS tank. "Don't Fix what's not Broken". I have 5 Gallons of ESV two part which will last me a while.I regularly ran 12alk on my tank and my SPS loved it. The problem came when something went wrong, then 12 dkh becomes a liability and exacerbates problems.
I don't really have too low of pH with my calrx but some do. This is combatted by kalk, or oy running the calrx during the day.
I still do believe ATI essentials is the best out there. It has dramatically gotten my friends tank to color up as it had mine.
