This is what Happen, when I SWEEPED THE CYANO OUT (by Siphon)

I always look at the CYANO Outbreak PHotos and REMEMBER ONE THING (Corals resisted the CYANO, and Cyano did Zero Damage to them).

The detail and information in each of your posts is incredible @WallyB.
An extra banner should be added under your name.

Wally is unique. He will probably figure out how to custom create and post his own DIY banner.

Yeah I've seen a few people swear that blowing off their cyano caused an outbreak in the tank. It seems few and far between, but the unknown chemical factors in our tank that we're utterly oblivious to make it hard to pinpoint why doing X works for person 1, but wreaks havoc for person 2.

For example -- one of the most fascinating things in our hobby are dinoflagellates -- There's unsubstantiated theory that they are in all tanks to some degree, and somehow naturally kept in check. They seem to alter the water chemistry to some degree to flourish and take over. There's lots of anecdotal evidence that several species of dinos have a population boom with a water change while others don't, implicating some species may be getting something out of trace minerals. Additionally, taking a coral covered in dinos and placing it in an entirely foreign tank will cause the dinos to dissipate within hours. They cannot take over a fresh tank like that. We haven't determined if they just become utterly managed or die out.

You start looking at things like that, with foreign and often poorly understood lifeforms in our own little biotopes and suddenly simple questions like "why does that happen" turn into these borderline existential rhetorical questions. "why does that happen"..

Here is a small excerpt from an article I enjoyed awhile back -- "An ocean of Viruses" <--- LINK

"It is apparent that we still have much to learn about the rich and dynamic world of ocean microbes and viruses. For example, a liter of seawater collected in marine surface waters typically contains at least 10 billion microbes and 100 billion viruses—the vast majority of which remain unidentified and uncharacterized."

These would be the unknown unknowns. Things so far out of our scope of understanding that we couldn't fathom what their roles may be. This topic is me at my nerdiest.

It really is amazing we can keep successful reefs with how little we know, or think we know. My little tank alone has several mysteries, but my corals are thriving for some reason.

EDIT: thriving for now at least. I am sure Murphy will visit again.

ANTHIAS Split (Dual QT) UPDATE

So all the Anthias made the night. The 2 Healthy ones quickly adapted to the new QT and ARE EATTING.

The ODD Anthias is alive. Sleeping PEACEFULL in his Castle. (Stuck like Spiderman on the inside wall)

I get the feeling he/she needs to recover from those bullies, but I could be wrong.

I'll let him continue to sleep till later tonight. Then I'll remove the Castle to see him swimming around and get a close rlook.

Then I can consider one of TWO OPTIONS:

-> Start Treatment (if anything looks wrong with him in CLOSE UP photos)
-> Take him back to LFS (if healthy), and trade him in for another (if they still have any Cariberryi Anthias Left)
-------> Thinking a swap might bring in a better compatible fish for the Other Pair.

I really want 3-4 Anthias going into DT for a better community success rate.

Thank @Janci,

Appreciate the Compliment Greatly. (More Valuable than a Banner)
Comments like that, and seeing folks give feedback drives me to do better.
I simply enjoy sharing and educating people (only things I know or Together Learn/Explore)

SO I WILL SHARE (A TOOL) POSSIBLY USEFUL to EVERYONE
......A tool To EASILY add Detail and make your Thread Photos more Illustrative.

Doing details on Photo's may look tedious and it can be with wrong Tools. Multiple Photo Editors, etc

I use one VERY POWERFUL Tool (SNAGIT)....you can download a eval copy for free to try.
https://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.html

Maybe there are better tools out there, but this one to me is Best.....

Been using it for years. For Personal Use, and Extensively at Work.....
Used to be like $29, now more but Still worth every penny.
I got a 5 pack family license, and my Wife and Kids use it all the time.

SO SIMPLE. <CTRL> <SHIFT><P> One magical Key Sequence TO start the process.

You SNAG any photo, or part of your screen you see on your computer. (like I did for the DLINK shots)
From there SnagIT enters a Editor where you can add the TEXT you see in my Photos. Arrows. Photos in Photos, etc
It can do Video Captures, and much much more. I haven't learned everything and stick to the basics.

That Star Wars Parody Algae Wars Part 1 & Part 2 Movie I did with my Son was 80% done using Snag it, PowerPoint.
Video Stills were all shot in my Current Frag Tank using TWO DLINK CAMERAS.
Then all put together using Moviemaker

https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycQ9YPuAaVk&t=9s (PART 1)
https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbjrROyxjlo&t=134s (PART 2)
(Remove the Space) between : and / and paste into Browser.

Does anyone know how to show LINK to You Tube without the BIG View Window?

Also -- I'm not too up to par on my med information. But I do know that API General Cure is a mixture of PraziPro (powder form) and Metroplex.

So make sure you aren't dosing too much prazipro -- Apparently it's very hard to get PraziPro to medicinal levels using API General Cure -- So the dosing for Gen Cure is low. But still, prazi can be very hard on fish that have flukes as they will all go into shock on the fish and really give them a strong chomp in the gills. That's why a FW bath is usually done first.

Make sure when dosing prazi that you have some extreme surface agitation. It sucks oxygen out of the water for some reason.

Good know, I did API full Packet which is exactly for the 10G Qt.
Prazi, I did half dose, and was thinking doing the other Half Tomorrow if Anthias looks/acts fine.
Obviously if he really responds well, I'll back off and wait a bit.

This is the weirdest thing ever. Maybe specific to Anthias high metabolism.
Usually when I've seen fish sick they look sick, weak, or you see some kind of Physical Abnormality.

This guy acts like he is fully alive, but he is just scared to death, and just want to stay in one place (Against the Wall in the Castle).

I was watching him on the Camera in the Cave when I put in food.
He kind of was going to go for a bite, but backed off, as if the other fish was going to beat him up if he did.

another easy and USEFUL quick photo edit tool is greenshot. it is also free. It does the stuff you described above minus video. You use the print screen button to capture then what you want then go from there. I do not have it on my work laptop, but i use it on my work computer and personal pc all the time.

I will certainly look GreeShot. $Free is great, since I have a few kids PC that need something like that.

But on the topic of Useful Apps. I was setting up my new Wifi Mesh Router in house.
My friend who work for a Cellular company told me about an Phone APP call "Wifi Badger".
I just tried it. Really cool. Better than Wifi Analyzer. It will show you all kind of things about your Home Wifi, (All your channels and stuff)
and if running on your phone will hook up to best wifi, and not get stuck on a weak signal.

We are getting off topic from Reef Discussions. But good info sharing is always handy.

We can totally take these side convo's off your build thread if you prefer, but I don't feel they're terribly off topic if you're willing to share and don't mind them here. I think a lot of peoples tanks, houses, lives are connected to the internet now, so talking about things like Wi-Fi, apps, and other tech that is peripherally related to reefing is valuable. Especially when someone like you has the experience and expertise to make really good recommendations. It provides a lot of value and I feel like it will benefit my tank having the info you've been sharing.

For phone shots I think one of the best apps out there is SnapSeed -- It's also completely free. What it has that helps cut out the blue is a "warmth" slider. Slide it up from 50-100%, and then possibly save that setting and boost it another 20-50% (depending how blue the photo is) and you've got some more natural images.

It's got a lot of tools for editing photos but none for videos.

I'll look into SnapSeed...... (For Easy/Quick Blue Removal)

SnagIT does some simple Photo Enhancement but very Simple (No color control)

I use PhotoShop (RawPlugin). Photo Shop CS6 which is like $1000 for the full suite. But since I like to Shoot RAW format not JPeg, there is a RawPlug in Editor that download is free. YOU NEED A Camera That Shoot Raw to use it.

RAW Images are not processed by Camera (Zero Enhancement), and then you can Do your own adjustments for Fish Tank Lighting.

45398021244_188b016cc9_o.jpg

But for VIDEO Editors , I struggled for a while with all kinds of Freeware, till my Son Show me SONY Vegas.
SUPER POWERFUL, and Really easy to use.

I did this 3 seprate Video Side by Side Run in less then 20 minutes of learning . Just learned by Drag and Drop clicking around.

But the best editors are the ONES you Learn (so long as they have want you need)

....Free is sometime better than the Full Blown $ priced.

Example for Panora Photo Stitching (Hugin) is one I like.
