Hi y’all!
We added this sea Urchin to our tank 2 days ago and it hasn’t moved at all. We took the time to acclimate it but due to its immobility we believe it might be dead? I’ve attached photos of it here.
The other day I noticed that my tuxedo urchin had climbed to the top of a rock, and started spewing powdery stuff from its top. It continued to pour out for 20 min or so, seemed never ending (the fish loved it! A mid-day snack). I've heard of clams doing this, but have never seen anything like...
Hello! I have two urchins, a pincushion and a tuxedo. Recently, one of them started getting these white balloon like balls coming out of it. Can anyone identify what they are? Pictures attached
I woke up at about 2 am to enjoy my tank when the lights go off and there are hundreds of baby snails on the rocks and on the glass.. I also saw what looked like a baby urchin and some type of starfish. Can anyone help ID them?? I posted some pics. They’re not the best because they’re at night.
I have an urchin that came in as a hitchhiker which might be a pin cushion urchin. She's been increasingly active lately and I'm concerned she might not be getting enough food. I offered her some Nori but she doesn't want it. I found an estimate that they can reach eight inches but the same site...
Ive had my long spine urchin for about 2 years. Over the last 2 days it started getting very slow and not moving to much. Then i check it out today, and see all of these white round balls that look like white BBs on its top.... looks like they are coming out of it, but havnt seen any release...
I have an Urchin that keeps picking up sand and other assorted debris while he moves about the tank. Do I keep cleaning him off or just leave it alone? My first Urchin so I am a bit lost. Thanks for the input!
I currently have a 30 gallon soft coral reef and the cleaners in it is 1 scarlet skunk cleaner, 1 dwarf feather duster, and 1 margarita snail. I want to add more to my CUC and want to add 12 dwarf blue leg hermits, 2 mexican turbo snails, 1 more margarita snail, 2 cerith snails, 2 astraea...
I was poking around last night and got this video of one of my ORA Variegated Urchins out and about. I love watching the guys scour the rock work looking for tasty algae to eat. They don't do squat against dinos but they seem to be doing well since I added them a month ago on 09/02/2017...
I’ve been battening this alage on a new tank for about a month now not sure what kind it is. But it’s extremely tough, I can’t scrub it off or pull it off. I also cannot take the rock out of the tank as it’s epoxied into one structure. My tuxedo urchin does eat it but only little bit at a time...
I saw a thread around here a few weeks ago that had pics of all different clean up crew critters and how they work in the aquarium. I tried searching for it but can’t find it. Anyone know where it might be hiding and can link it ?
My live rock (TB Saltwater) came in with several urchins. This one has doubled in size since I first noticed her (2 weeks, maybe) - she carried shells around and has pale spines. Any ideas?
And is this one a black longspine? She doesn't carry things around and she's growing very fast, too...
My yellow tang periodically crashes into my longspine urchin in his travels around the 210. Once in a while it looks like he gets poked pretty good, the urchin looks likes he gets moved over about an inch.
Should this be concerning? Are either of them getting hurt? Is my tang dumb?
Urchin is...
A replaced my original tuxedo urchin a couple of weeks ago with a beautiful white tuxedo and since it's arrival my Potter's Angel has slowly been picking away at it's spines. It's 1/3 bald at this point. Has anyone seen this behavior before? I've tried to dig around and find something on this...
I noticed my Pencil Urchin was sitting on top of where I have some Mushrooms. I got some baby mushrooms there, 1 that was a morph between some, and they are gone. Anyone have an issue with this?
Anyone know what this guy is? He looks a bit weird right now as he went into defense mode and stuck most of his pins straight up. He has a black body, with the 5 black lines separating his body into sections (just like any old tuxedo urchin.) but his pins are half striped white and maroon/red...
