Hi everyone! I’m starting a project for my adorable captive bred seahorse herd.
I found an amazing 150 gal 36” cube on offer up for $200! It had a stand but it was way too tall for me (5’1” person here), so I decided to build my own! I made it so the stand had a 1” lip on 3 of the 4 sides. The...
Hello,
I work at an aquarium for starters. We have a coldwater seahorse tank (63°F) with nothing else in it. The tank has a ton of these anemone like guys. They look to be potentially colonial?
It doesn't seem to bother the potbelly seahorses at all! But when I scrub the tank they seem to be...
All kinds of fun stuff happening here!
Looks dull and boring from far but I've been enjoying using the magnifying glass to find all the tiny critters. We started out by accidentally bringing home a Cone Shell Hermit crab inside this Auger shell, threw him in a bucket of water with a nice algae...
Hello!
This is my first time joining as a member in a reef forum ❤️
I wanted to see if anyone had previous experience caring for Western Australian Seahorse (subelongatus sp.), as I had a lottery’s luck with a reputable store front when perusing the shop. Unfortunately, the aquatic husbandry...
Hiya!
I have a 15 gallon kreisel tank that I bought from liveaquaria a few years ago that up until now I have used for moon jellyfish. They lived their normal lifespan and now I have this empty tank and I’m wondering what else I could put in it? The tank is fully cycled and has live rock and...
I have a new 180-gallon DT and an existing 75 gallon. I wanted to move some of my live rock & corals to the new DT but they are covered in Aptasia. (Aptasia X was a big fail...)
I will be saving my coral by carefully removing it from my live rock and transferring it to my DT. My first...
So I had a seahorse that unfortunately got snout rot and passed, I had recently gotten this baby seahorse to go with him. I removed the baby seahorse from the tank and put her in a small tank of her own and immediately began quarantine for her. I didn't want to take the risk so I began...
My seahorse is suffering from snout rot and I've been using Kanaplex to heal her. It says up to 3 doses and I hit that 3rd dose yesterday. Can I repeat a 4th, and possibly a 5th dose if need be? Do I need to change the water out if I can do the 4th dose?
Ok, So last night I realized my lined seahorse has snout rot and a white spot on his tail. I'm pretty sure he has a bacterial infection, so I immediately put Marcylin-2 in the tank. Will Marcylin-2 work long term and heal my seahorse, or will I have to get something else? Please Help.

Hello everyone, I'd like to get some votes on what i should have in my aqueon column build?
It's either going to be seahorses or dwarf cuddlefish.
What do you think I should get?
Hey everyone! I currently have a 5 gallon tank I set up for my dwarf seahorses, and they’re doing great, one of the males has babies coming any day now! Anyway, I love my dwarves so much I want to set up a *normal size* seahorse tank as well, so I’m looking for a biocube or nanocube to get that...
I have two tank bred captive raised Hippocampus erectus seahorses for sale. They are about 2 3/4" to 3" and are eating frozen mysids. $100 each plus shipping. Please PM me if interested.
Would a yellow kuda be okay in an IM lagoon 25? I know that seahorses need the vertical space for their mating dance, but other than that yellow kuda are found in lagoons and stay towards the bottom in grass flats. Just was wondering if this tank would be okay. Just want 2 seahorses
Hello everyone,
I am thinking of setting up a 120G tank. I want to have a variety of fish and coral in there.
Have you ever tried to put seahorses with other fish, and if yes what really happened.
Do you think it would be a good idea to try it and add the sea horses first (after the tank...
I decided to post my build of my multi-tank system designed to house and group corals in multiple displays sharing a common filtration system for ease of maintenance. The idea of having multiple tanks that I can separate the needs of specific groups of corals in separate systems appeals to me. I...
Hi folks,
I've set up a Reefer 250 for my other half. She's wanting to keep sea horses with a few other compatible fish.
We are using Dr Tim's one & only to cycle the tank and are looking for suggestions on what fish, other than clowns to use to cycle along with the Dr tims as . I was told a...
Hi, im looking for a few options on what to do with my soon to be seahorse tank, i currently have a cycled 70cm cube. Im taking things really slow ensuring water is perfectly stable for the ponies when they arrive in the near future.
Having such a tall tank has made me wonder that there wont be...
Hello, so I’m setting up a seahorse tank but don’t have space in my sump for a fuge? Is there any alternatives ? Do I really need a fuge? Is there any other way to colonize pods with out it that’s sufficient for the sea horses ?
Two pairs of sunburst erectus. They are addicting to watch! "Captain", has a dispute with his little lady and takes off with a chunk of macro. Can't handle the cuteness!
Well its finally time - I bought an 80 Gallon SC Aquariums tank for this build.
....But there's a little back story and it wont get there immediately. This tank build was in the works but it was a slow in the works until two weeks ago when my main display, a 225 reef, split a seam and started...
I have a pair of seahorse that have been doing really well in my tank swimming around and doing fine. They’ve been nipping at the live rock for copepods. But recently I started noticing that one of them will curl its tail up and seemingly scratch or pick at his head. I also watched him rub his...
