Hello all!
I have a 13.5 fluval evo, recently I've been trying to figure out the daily dosage for calcium, magnesium and Alk. Unfortunately right now when I measured my prams i got very confusing results and i need help!
My salinity is at 35 ppt measured by a refractometer and held stable by...
For the last several weeks, my Hanna checker has shown my tank to have roughly 500ppm calcium. I was alarmed by this because I don't dose calcium and have no idea where the extra calcium could come from. I decided to test my water mix (Instant Ocean at 1.024 specific gravity) with an ICP and...
Good morning,
Another question to double check. I feel like I'm doing it wrong but idk.
So I did the salifert magnesium test. After adding the powder it goes straight to blue. This would mean my Magnesium is at 1,500 right? Or am I doing something wrong.
Thank you,
I have a New Years resolution to keep my tank chemistry as stable as possible to allow my corals to thrive. They are doing fine now with good growth and color and want to keep it that way. However, depending on the test kit I use I'm getting different results so not sure exactly what the 'now'...
Phosphate ULR Hanna checker with 25 reagent

Salifert Mag, Alk, and Ca test kits in Red Seas enclosure
All kits for $80 shipped
Not separating.
All pms asking to separate will be ignored.
Anyone have their LFS tell them that their Alkalinity and Magnesium are low and should be dosed but your own test kits are telling you otherwise? Both LFS and myself are using Salifert test kits and testing the same water sample.
Alkalinity:
LFS 7.85
Me 8.3
Magnesium:
LFS 1290
Me 1500+
Copper level.
What do you all think?.... I think .5......(hard to read, still waiting on hanna copper tester to arrive)
Seachem cupramine. Salifert copper test.
Thanks everyone.
Hi everyone, I'm sure this has been answered numerous times but I can't find a comparison thread with these 2 specific tests.
Hanna is out of my price range before you ask ;)
I see that a lot of people get zero readings on their Salifert kits, hopefully that means their actual levels are close...
Hello Reefers, I wanted to share my experience with a product to remove Flatworm in your tank. I documented a little bit of the reaction on different corals also. If there anyone who uses this product before let me know if it worked for you.
A quick poll about how to be sure your trident is giving correct measurements: You can pick one or more than one. This poll is about the trident - and is not designed to be a negative. Its designed to see how many people actually do what Neptune says they should do when using their equipment...
so i have been using Api for years now and have heard theyre like bottomline. I technically didnt do water changes on my tank for 3 months(i did but only twice) cause i ran out of salt and didnt buy a new bucket cause i was thinking of switching salts idk why it took me so long. But well yea ive...
So the other day I got some erroneous readings on my Salifert alkalinity test. First one was 9.6 dKh then two days later it was 12. I also tested a fresh batch of Reef Crystals and it came out 12 dKh. I panicked but everything looked healthy in my tank. Maybe I just screwed up the tests. I asked...
