I need some help identifying if something is off with my little clown.
He's in my second system and the display refugium now. I put him through a full duration of Furan-2 to address if the white skin mark was a slime coat issue or an infection from a wound. I just put him back after being in...
I set up a quarantine tank (20 Long) with no sand or rock. It has a hang on filter with some carbon in a small bag. When not using the tank what do you do to keep it ready so if I buy some fish on impulse it will be ready to go, Can you cover it to prevent evaporation? Do you need to keep...
Hey guys, how is it going? My tank is cycling yet but I want to add a cleaning crew in a few weeks, but I'm not sure if I should QT them. I read somewhere that inverts don't get Ich, so I shouldn't QT them. I plan on QT the clownfish when I add them, but should I do the same with the cleaning...
When setting up a quarantine tank should you add bacteria to the water or just leave it as fresh salt water?
Its just very basic, small pump with foam filter, very small basic skimmer, no heater since the room is 26C (I live in the desert so better with a chiller )
(ignore the temperature it's...
Like the name says -Permanent Quarantine
does any one have a set up that they leave up 365 days a year to QT fish?
could you just have a system set up with live rock, skimmer, heater, pumps, sump, and treat the tank, with prazi or copper or hypo, if a fish does get a disease while in the QT...
I am fortunate in that so far I have not had a flat worm or red bug in my tank....but never say never and I am more and more concerned as I get more corals in the tank.
Up until now when I get a new frag or coral I
1) Float the bag to equalize the temperature
2) Drip acclimate the new addition...

I received a Starlicki damsel and a Tomini tang from Divers Den on Friday. temp acclimated , matched the QT tank water to their water, and released. Saturday they were out and about and swimming well and eating. I did not take notice of their breathing Saturday. Today they are still eating...
I have 7 fish in my quarantine tank due to an ich attack. I have been doing water change ever 2 days but I notice that the ich is gone but my fish are barely swimming. I measured ammonia level and it is present in my tank between 0.25 and 0.5 . Do you have any advice to reduce the ammonia level...
I have a copperband butterflyfish on hold for me at my LFS, and the first day I saw him I decided to get him because I've always wanted one and I watched him eat mysis (I've heard it's hard to get copperbands to eat frozen/prepared foods). He looked great, he was active and picking at the rocks...
I just ordered 2 clowns. One medium and one small. I placed them in their quarantine tank after I properly drip acclimated them for 2 hours. It's been 5 days now and I just noticed for the past day or two that the smaller one stays in a particular bottom corner and doesn't swim around much...
How do I top off my 10g quarantine throughout the weeks using it? I added my display tank water and I thought I heard somewhere that I top it off with it as well, but wouldn't that increase my salinity?
I have (new-ish) a 90Gal display tank that has been setup 7 months now, which is an upgrade on my previous 20Gal tank. I have now set-up my 20Gal as a permanent quarantine/hospital tank.
I have transferred my 3 fish over to the main display where they have lived happily for around 4 months...
I have been searching across many forums and have come across discussions on this before but have failed in locating it. I'm searching for aquarium with known quarantine procedures prior to sales. Unfortunately while qt at home I have had poor luck in either my qt process or have had worse luck...
I had watched a short documentary on Typhoid Mary and how she passed the disease on to so many others without being affected at all. So I was wondering if the same thing could happen with fish. For example: quarantine a fish for 2 months, no symptoms, but then when you add that fish to your...

So I do not have space for a quarantine tank. I am looking for other proven options. I have a UV starilzer. I have read about fresh water dipping and other methods with buckets. I really don't think they are realistic. They both seem like they would stress the fish. Looking for others experience.
