    GFO w/ Red Sea No3Po4X

So I heard GFO bag like this can strip Po4? What if I use this in conjunction with active carbon dosing, the likes of No3Po4x? OK or BAD idea?

Phosphorus vs Chaeto vs Bio pellets vs GFO

Hello world! Ok so this is my situation: I have a 55g tank and a heavy stocked aquarium; because I cannot add at this moment a sump I am forced to consider all the (limited) options. I have been measuring the water quality for sometime now and I continue to have a bad problem with Nitrate and...

    Phosphate RX?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any luck with the product phosphate rx? I know it’s just a band-aid, and I am solving the core issue by weekly water changes (I was super pregnant so my tank was neglected for 6 months, and yay softies for surviving just top offs!) I do now have a reactor...

    Lanthanum Chloride

Is Lanthanum Chloride the same as Lanthanum Chloride heptahydrate? I have found a chemical called Phos-Out but not Sea-Klear which is what people usually use. (from what I can tell a heptahydrate is a particle that contains seven molecules of water, so sounds ok to me but I am no chemist)

PhosGuard - Positive Experience So Far - What do you use?

So, I read the directions on how to use PhosGuard and was SKEPTICAL! It stated the amount you needed to dose either in a reactor or a media back, rinse first, etc.. Now it came to the testing and what to expect.. The directions stated that it would remove Phosphate down to .02 (the exact level...

Treating and reusing old rock, and phosphates...

Just restarting an old tank and wanting to make sure the rock is 100% pest and phosphate and problem free. I bought around 40Kg of rock from a guy that had removed it from his tank around a year ago and it has just been sat around dry since then. However, I don't know or trust the history (I'm...

    Lanthanum Chloride Questions

Hey all, I recently stumbled across threads with people saying they use lanthanum chloride to lower phosphate. Upon further research i'd like to try it out, GFO is expensive and it's extra maintenance that I'm looking to get rid of. 1) Products like Phosphate RX or Phosphate E (Brightwell)...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question.

As you can see in the title, that is my main question but, here is the background behind it: Up until last night, my main sps tank was a 40 gallon acrylic setup with sump and a Tunze Comline DOC 9004 DC skimmer. Worked great. I woke up yesterday morning to see a start of a 2” long separation in...

Is GFO necessary with a large regfugium?

I have always run GFO and had very good success with it. Recently I have been running a very large triton style refugium with the Kessil refugium light. I have 0 detectable nitrates or phosphates with this, and I recently stopped changing my GFO. I still have 0 detectable phosphates with a...

    High phosphate/nitrate

I've finished cycling my 40-gallon AIO reef tank and added five corals about a week ago. They are hardy species: two acans, one frogspawn, one leather and a fungia. All appear ok, and have eaten mysis when I target fed them. Ammonia and nitrite are zero, nitrate is 4 or 5, pH is about 8.2...

    ICP phosphate results

Hello, my last ICP test says my phosphate are too high - P 106 µg/l and PO4 0.32436 mg/, but all my home tests, made with Hanna HI 713, were zero. Reading the ICP help I've found this cause "No Phosphate in the system" that sound me little bit strange, could someone helps me to understand...

With regard to Po4 how low is too low?

Hi Randy, and other Reef2Reefers. I have a problem that probably most reefers dream about having. I seem to have really low No3 and Po4 levels that I struggle to keep from bottoming out. I dose NoPox in a moderately stocked mixed reef 350 Reefer, at the level of 1.8ml daily, and maintain No3...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Dosing Photos

Curious to see if anyone has photos of their progress with nutrient dosing. I see many threads of discussion of how to go about this but I have not seen too many discussions with photos of "improved coloration and growth" that many people claim. Please post your results. Thanks in advance!

Nitrates and Phosphates (Again ;) )

It seems that the hobby drifts towards and then away from the ultra low range nutrients systems on a regular cycle. It leads the 'newbies' (of which I still believe I am one) to the incorrect initial conclusion that you need 0 Nitrates and 0 Phosphates. I have a mixed reef and endeavor to keep...

10 PPM Phosphate Levels: No need to panic
