So i have never tested the salinity of the coral tanks at my lfs for over 10 years now thinking the corals will be kept at 1.025-1.026. I would sometimes just drop them in the tank pro problems. Sometimes drip for 30 mins. I know the fish are kept at a low salinity to save money on salt but i...
Years ago I strictly did business with the aquarium center, but unfortunately they are now longer around. I've checked out both the fish place in Lancaster, PA and house of tropics in Glen Bernie, MD. Both was show signs of alot of aptishia and other pests. I would prefer to stick with local...
I have a LFS that qt their fish but I am not sure if their process is completely safe.
They have all tanks connected together with presence of coppersafe (2.00-2.50 ppm).
They receive new fishes and put them into the same system.
Is it possible for fishes that have been in the tanks get...
Hello all,
I bought some of these from SaltwaterAquarium.com and normally, these folks have been fantastic.

For whatever reason, when I opened my shipment today these anemones were all the same red color and don't appear to...
Hey guys , I’m very curious what the majority of people head down to their LFS to buy ( dry goods)
What do people believe are the most commonly purchased dry goods at an LFS ?
I ask this question because I am in the process of opening a small store and have limited space to stock dry goods for...
Hi everyone! I'm new to MD and new to the saltwater hobby. Does anyone have recommendations on local fish stores? and if any of them QT/ will QT for you? I live in Gaithersburg.

Good Morning Tampa Bay Reefers!
My wife and I are about to move to Clearwater and are big in our Saltwater Tank. I was wondering what are some good LFS Stores in the area I could go check out when we move there?! I am even stopping by June 11th - 20th for business and would love to hear places...
Hello All; I'm a new reefer down by the Mexican border and Tucson would be the closest area I can go for livestock. It's still about an hour and a half trip from where I am.
In the interest of saving myself some gas and time; for those of you who live in Pima County, what is your go-to local...
Hey folks - I'll be spending the next couple weeks in Maui, Honolulu, then Los Angeles and hoping to check out some LFS. Any suggestions? Hard to tell where to go just based on google search. I'm looking for stores that have large saltwater selections of corals and fishes with reasonable prices...
So I have a Reefer 250 that has been running for about 5+ years and I have reached a point where I am needing to cut back corals because things are crowding each other out. The issues are these:
a. taking to a local store gives very low ball store credit
b. selling through an app like facebook...
Ive looked around and am posting this to help others in my situation, if you have suggestions, please add them in the thread so more people can know
These are in no particular order:
Pro Reef Aquatics: My store of choice, Good staff, heathy fish (there was an issue a few months back, but its...
Hello, I would like to see your views on LFS (not some bigbox store like petco/petsmart) when they lie/give false information to a hobbyist, in an attempt to sell fish, especially when they claim to be beginners. For example, saying that a juvenile emperor angelfish would do fine in a 75 gallon...
Hey hey Austinites. What's your favorite Austin area LFS? I've been to a couple so far, but wondering what everyone considers their go-to spot. Best livestock? Best equipment and dry goods? Most knowledgeable? Friendliest?
Admittedly a repost, but didn't get much action on the first one.

Anyone know a name of a place they would reccomen checking out?
I was in a LFS the other day and saw they had a group of chromis. Not of great interest to me, but a couple had red blotches and my amateur guess was a possible uronema infection given the reported prevalence.
It made me wonder, given the recommended "bleach everything and throw the rest away"...
TL;DR: - an 8 year old reef/ fish store specializing in a wide range of exotic to household name corals with multiple display tanks (gorgeous ones) and at least 8 frag tanks in the customer side of the store (and a dozen more in the back), and they don't know a single PAR value for what they...
