Hello Everyone!
The past few months I have finally bit the bullet and began my saltwater journey. I’m currently in the process of cycling my tank and so far so good. The problem I’m having and hoping you guys could help me with is stocking. I’ve done tons of research and everywhere has its own...
Hey everyone, I have a 5 gallon reef setup and have some small brown flatworms. I don't have a ton so I'm looking for something, preferably an invert, that can live comfortably in the tank and help control or eradicate the flatworms. Any suggestions?
I'm very interesting in obtaining a coral croucher, but I am very worried about the compatibility of them with certain types of invertebrates. I was planning to keep a tank with a group of pom pom crabs, sexy shrimps, a Randall's snapping shrimp, and fire shrimps. However, I am wary of getting a...
Just finished making my own DIY sump with a standard 10g tank for my 20g tank. I have a refugium in the middle and am looking for things I could add for algae control, and just to keep the refugium cleanish. I know ill have to scrub some algae but want to do as little as possible. I have some...
Who’s currently aquaculturing a variety of:
• Photosynthetic sponges
• Photosynthetic gorgonians
• Rarer inverts
• Cleaner shrimp, etc.?
I’d love to support them and give them kudos. It’s hard to find a reliable source of these that are 100% aquacultured.
I've been doing a lot of reading on QT tanks, A LOT. ;Bookworm;Bookworm;Bookworm I want to set up a QT tank but my concern is that I've read that daily water changes are needed. I work 12 hour shifts 4 days a week and during my work week it would be almost impossible to have time to do a daily...
I just set up a small 5 gallon tank and am thinking about getting a red claw crab or two and giving them a island, but also being able to house a quarantined fish in there if things turned south. Will red claw crabs live long in full scale saltwater? Or should I just abandon that idea?
So, I switched over my 5 gallon freshwater tank to saltwater in case I have to quarantine some fish, but then I got to thinking, I should put something in there. Id like to stay away from corals since the light is so small. I was thinking some sort of invert tank that would look interesting ...
I love my invertebrates. They're what brought me to saltwater in the first place. But I wonder - what is the longevity and survivability of these guys? I know some species don't survive well or don't live long. I'd like to avoid some of these. I know some of them that are difficult/ should not...
Hello all,
just recently purchased a red fromia about 4-5inches across in length. 3 days later, I find this somewhat close to where the fromia hangs out. is this a pest or a fromia baby? I don't know anything about fromia reproduction, so I am very skeptical about it being a baby. help!!
Hello everyone, I have been trying to figure this out forever and have heard mixed things over and over so finally I decided to ask the big question here… How do you get the bubble tips to inflate/ stay inflated on Bubble tip anemones? I have seen many many tanks on here and in person, some with...
So I am very new to saltwater and I need suggestions for a clean up crew for my tank. I have a Hoeven's wrasse and I heard he can eat some invertebrates. I already have a yellow banded coral shrimp and a white sea urchin. What else can I get for the clean up crew.
Part 2 to TBS "The Package" arrived on Thursday, and they included a Serpent Star (about 4" across). I've fed him a cube of Mysis Shrimp twice now, and he comes out pretty quick even with lights still somewhat on to take it.
But honestly, he scares the heck out of me. I'm also worried he'll go...
Hi all,
The air conditioning in my car is on the fritz. I won't be able to get it fixed before Reef A Palooza this weekend. My drive back from the show is about half an hour. If it's really hot, do I need to make any special arrangements for bringing some frags and inverts home? My car gets...
One of the inspirations for getting into reefing was being able to keep weird stuff I couldn't keep in freshwater - especially invertebrates. Turns out a lot of invertebrates are either nocturnal or hiders or both. Anyone have suggestions for day-active invertebrates?
I would love, love, love to see a thread on how to care for invertebrates and what to expect from them as a sticky in the invertebrate forum.
For example: Fan worms (feather dusters) should be fed x, y times a week, if they lose their crown it could mean a or b, if they come out it could be...
