Hi, my tank is around 2 years old, and these weird things have been growing slowly for a while and I never thought anything of it. Today I decided to remove them and they almost felt and looked like tendon when split. Would love to know what they are, thanks !
Hello,
I just received a cleanup crew shipment and in one of the bags with a whole mess of dwarf ceriths there was what looks to be an extremely small clam. It's no bigger than a centimeter and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it will get larger or remain small. I placed it in my sand bed...
Finding hitchhikers (benign ones especially) is actually one of my favorite things about reef-keeping! And today I noticed a new friend in my 1.5 gallon that I most definitely did not add. It’s a beautiful little crab, but not particularly active— I’ve never actually seen it move, just sort of...
Hello all!
During a sand bed cleaning I just bumped my trachyphyllia that I've had for about 2 months. It looks like there is a feather duster worm hitchhiking on the bottom. Is this a feather duster worm and it's harmless? Or is it something else? Should I remove it? If so, how?
Thanks in advance!
I was culling out some vermetids snails today when I noticed that there were some weird "bubbles" hanging off my zoas and some of the stems of the colony had turned yellow. I poked at the bubbles a little but nothing happened. Obviously I had irritated the colony so they were mostly closed .the...
Excuse the poor photo/video. Macrophotography is not m forté. I found this little guy attached to one of my frags. Should I add him to the tank or keep him away?
About a month ago I found two of these on a snail they would go from being right up on his shell to being stretched out about 6 or 7 in really thin they almost look like they had little tentacles or feathers at the end of them that are hard to see in the pictures but I hope you can get an idea...
I know amphipods get large, but anything i've seen is like a flat looking shrimp. Anyone id this guy? Sorry about the videos, trying to focus on the sucker is hard.
Received a Fighting Conch from an online delivery today. I noticed what looks like a snail of some sort stuck to it. Any ideas? Can or should this be removed? Seems healthy and has been out and eating since it hit the sand. Thank you for any advice.
I accidentally bought a piece of live rock that had a bumblebee snail in it. My tank is only starting. Will it eat all the worms i have(i just have maybe a ten max, and i want them to multiply) and future snail additions, like dwarf snails or limpets, if i will feed it? I know it accepts frozen...
I noticed the start of a spirorbid worm infestation on the back panel of my tank. I have a n. wennerae mantis shrimp, 2 clowns, and a turbo snail. I've tried cutting down my feeding, but that only slowed them down. is there anything I can do to eradicate them fully?
thank you
I am in the process of moving my tank to a larger one. While removing the rock and sand I caught 3 large worms. I can’t tell if they are large bristle worms or possibly Oenone fulgida? They don’t have the large tentacles of a eucilide. It has a black mouth/head which doesn’t match my other...
And here I thought I was at least decently familiar with most hitchhikers out there. I haven't the slightest clue what this could be.
Weirdest part is that it wasn't there just a few hours ago. Bare rock this morning.
Hello! This isn’t exactly new I saw the hair like feelers a while ago but now for some reason it has really moved around the tank a lot. I’m pretty positive it’s a Spaghetti worm but I want any other opinions as I’m not too versed in hitchhikers. Thank you in advance!
Hi everyone,
I was given a good amount of live rock. I currently have a well established tank. My question is this. How can I process this rock to ensure I’m not introducing any hitchhikers?
Thank you
Does anyone know what this slug looking red spec is. Just pulled it off my recently introduced Maxima clam shell. Little horns or eyes poking out from its head.
Thanks everyone!
Hi,
Put a new piece of rock in the tank recently and this thing has suddenly appeared at some point today. Anyone any ideas?? It looks as though it’s “breathing” in the video but I can’t be sure with it being on the power head.
Every days a journey with a new reef tank
We have had a bunch of these guys (maybe 2 or 3 different things?) for weeks. They are in the sump and on the DT walls and when we clean the walls, they are back in three days or less. Any idea what they are, if they are harmful and what to do about them? The DT is 140 gallons, fish and a...
It grew from a greenish mat to the point that now I’m noticing polyps? sprouting from it. Right at the end of my yellow zoas. Pictures under white light.
