Hi,
I'm doing a lot of research on corals, such as their types and needs. I've even picked out a small handful I like to prepare, I am as well picking a new lighting setup to get ready.
Through my research I've found some confusing information, that I can't seem to find any answers to.
When...
Hi all bit of a weird one Coral has been fine all day come home and it looks like somebody’s got it with a pair of scissors please help
Also this one has moved around not too sure why
I know this question gets asked a lot. I’ve searched the threads. Looking for a more specific answer.
what is going on with this guy? I just lost 1 hammer yesterday - I think he was stung by my mushroom - so I moved the shroom. He was living right below this guy. However this guy has looked...
There are these weird white rods sticking out of my coral base. I am fairly new to reef keeping. Can anyone tell me what’s going on? They seem to just have popped out out of nowhere
I got this hammer a few months ago. Initially it was nice and fluffy but has since receded pretty harshly. I initially thought that the water might be too dirty so I stepped up the water changes. Then I read last week that they may prefer slightly dirty water and that I was probably throwing the...
Hello hobbyists!
My young clown has decided to move from the rock corner he was living in to the beloved large walling hammer colony. He’s not being rough with it, but if he smacks his head into a polyp the one polyp will retract a bit. currently the hammer is happy and open.
has anyone...
Hi All
I have a lovely Hammer that has been in my tank since October 21. I have attached three images of the coral, one with no lights, one at the begining of the day and at the final image of it is when it is puffed up later in the day.
My tank specs fall into ideal parameters recommended by...
after being on and off for the last 5 ish years with multiple tanks of varying sizes… i am finally BACK in the hobby and man does it ever feel good! may i present my newest adventure: a 3 gallon LPS (euphyllia dominant) pico! the rainbow hammer colony was just added today so please don’t mind...
Hi there,
I have the weirdest thing going on with my hammer coral. I have a gold branching hammer that is growing in a weird way. Its new heads are growing as if they were some wacky wall hammer. One of the heads is growing skeleton, but is only attached to the colony by tissue...
Hi,
So this hammer coral has been glued down for a few months now and the flesh has started to "encrust" around the rock below it (you can see the rock behind the flesh).
I know it is progressing downwards as I have taken pictures a week apart comparing the growth.
I can't seem to find any...
I recently moved my hammer corals since I change my aquascape (about 2 weeks ago), I moved my hammers lower so that they don’t get blasted with flow. Now they don’t seem to open up as much as they used to.
Is my hammer a lost cause. This tank has been stable for over a year. I recently started to feed a little more because Iv had low nutrients for so long and also got 2 nassarius snails. They seemed to have hard time finding the small pieces of food so long story short I fed about 1/3 more than I...
Hey everyone!! Hope everyone is doing well, I’m pretty new to the saltwater reef community and my tank has been coming along really nicely!! Currently have 2 frostbite clowns a YWG paired w a pistol shrimp and a blood shrimp. I just purchased two torches which are in the process of blooming, a...
I recently added some new corals to my 20g peninsula tank and now I'm questioning my lighting schedule. I moved all of my Zoa plugs to a Zoa rock at the bottom, and they're not opening up, so I'm concerned that my lights might be too intense. I've also noticed a Hammer that I moved has one...
Hey everyone,
I have a branching hammer that’s been looking pretty rough for the last couple of days, not sure what it is, could this be the start of brown jelly disease or something else, looks a little brown underneath, but still new to the hobby now sure if it can be something else. Should I...
Hey everyone if this is a unknown issue i will follow with all my parameters, and equipment. But my gut tells me someone will recognize it. And maybe this i just how the middle of hammers look like idk. However the hammer is in a evo 13.5 for the past year. All coral is healthily and growing...
Couple of weeks back I direct fed my Hammer some Reef Roids Nano. A few days later it expelled what looked like a brown jelly balloon. Some guys kindly replied to my question on here asking what it was and let me know the Hammer was pooping.
However my hammer coral never seemed to recover after...
I’ve had a branching hammer coral for around 9 months and it’s been doing really well. Earlier today it was fully extended and happy. This evening I’ve looked and it is very shrunken and looks like a brown ballon coming from its mouth. Never seen it do this before.
what could this be?
I just installed 2 eflux current 1050 gph powerheads.
Currently have them set to gyre mode at 70%
My hammer retracted completely after turning the powerheads on so worried it might be getting too much flow. Nothing else seems affected
Just got it 2 days ago. Yesterday it was fully opened and seemed to be doing okay, but since this morning it is been like this and is expelling this long almost clear looking stringy substance. Is there anything to worry about?
Hey everyone, I have had a hammer in my tank a little over 6 months, that hasn't grown much, but has stayed healthy for the most part. But a few months ago, I had a severe outbreak of chrysophytes, that was irritating and killing some stony corals. This coral looked fine for the most part:
But...
Hi guys,
Does anyone know what this may be?
There seams to be 2 red masses and one small red mass on my hammer.
I’ve had the hammer a month and the first 2 weeks everything was okay, but the last 2 weeks it just hasn’t opened fully, I’d say it’s opened about 70% max.
I was wondering if these...
Hey guys, I’ve had a hammer coral for 2 months now, and it was looking great, at the start of this month it looked as if it was getting bigger, and now in the past two weeks the front edge hasn’t been extending and is retracted into the skeleton.
at first I thought maybe my clowns or snails had...
