Hey everyone,
I have a pretty new tank setup. 100 gallon DT, 32 gallon sump. About 120ish total volume.
I used cycled media from a previous tank to help get this one going, along with Dr Tims bacteria. It is about a month old.
Here's my stock: 2 clowns, 1 royal gramma, 1 BTA, 1 Rock Nem, lps...
Can anybody help. New to here and tank around 9 months old. Had an algae outbreak. Not the best pics but starting to stand up with air bubbles on the tips. More brown/orange under whites. Goes away over night nearly completely and then back when lights on. Running 5 hours blue and 2 hours white...
so i think i have dinos in my sump or something like that i’ll post a few pictures and i know they aren’t the best pictures but they where the best i could get
and i’ll also try to describe it it’s like a weird matt with bubbles in it or could this be something else
So ive got a pretty nasty dino outbreak in my 150 gal. They spread over the entire tank in less than 2 days from when i noticed them. I added vibrant this past monday at the reccomended dose and by thursday every acro i had has bleached white and died and my lps that were doing great ( torches...
Does anyone know what is on my sand and rocks? It is covering some of my softie corals at the back of the tank. GSP, Zoas and a toadstool coral. Any ideas what it is?
Hey everyone so I'm pretty sure I'm having a dino outbreak. Tank is 25 gal and been setup for a few months but with some existing live sand and rock from my previous tank. Tank is an AIO so I just have basic filtration in the back and was running chemi pure elite. I then switched to chemi pure...
I think I discovered some dino algae growing in my tank. My tank is about a week old now & I read that this is fairly common in new tanks. Any ideas on how I can get rid of the dino’s before it’s too late?
Hi all,
I've had my reef tank up for a little over a year and a half. I have learned a lot in that time, specifically that keeping a reef is much more intense than I originally thought coming from the freshwater side of the hobby. Before I decided to jump in to reef keeping, I thought all the...
Hello, I have a new tank that’s been running for almost 3 months and a few days ago I started noticing my rock, sand, and glass have started turning brown. My tank has been cycled since week 2 so I don’t think it’s diatoms. I had something like this when I started a tank a few years ago and...
When using Dino x, do you run the skimmer or no? I have heard to run it wet, but on the bottle says nothing about skimming. Only shut off UV, remove carbon and remove and phosphate reducers.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions.
Hey guys,
could you help me out identifying the algae I currently have in my reef tank? Attached you will find some images. I probably guess diatoms and cyanobacteria are present. However, I also think that some dinoflagellates are in between. But I'm not sure about the last.
Thanks in advance!
My coral quarantine thing is currently going through Dino’s. I did a black out and I’ve been adding beneficial bacteria every day. Today I vacuumed out as much as I could off of the egg crate and will do so again in another day or two. If I scrub the coral skeletons on my torches would it be...
Looking for some help in Dino problem I’ve had my Red Sea 250 (54gallon display) setup for 12 weeks now, the sand and half the rock were in my previous tank for an additional 4 weeks. Hard to tell from photos but it looks like dinos on the sand and glass. I have to clean the glass at least once...
Hello, I am looking to see if this is Dino? This is in my Coral quarantine tank and I was getting ready to add coral to my display tank and I want to know if this is Dino and what your recommendation is to beat it? Also I assume it’s a bad idea to add the coral to my display? Clean them and then...
Hi everyone,
Have some algae growing on my back wall for the past few weeks. Phosphates read 0.00 on hanna, so I'm thinking Dino maybe?
Nitrates also around 5ppm
What do you think?
The role of iron in the growth of dinoflagellates is well characterized, so nothing written here is novel- I simply wanted to validate a pet theory of mine and provide documentation in case anyone finds this post of any interest later.
I set up an experiment* and dosed experimental containers...
I have been battling dinoflagellates for awhile now and feel like im starting to beat them but want to make sure. This is a sample from my tank on april 24th.
I know these are dinos but when I took a sample today I didn't see these but seen what I thought looked like little copepods. I'm not...
Having a pretty bad Dino outbreak, and i think I’ve narrowed down the why, nitrates and phosphates are consistently low, and i started the tank with new dry rock so there wasn’t much bacteria to outcompete.
it’s now covering the surface of all my rock scape and some of my frags
So trying to...
Hi guys,
struggling with dinos over the last couple of months, I’ve invested in a microscope but still unsure of species. For me, they look And behave like Amphidinum, but they seem to migrate into the water column at night. Also, my inverts have been dying recently which tells me it’s most...
Hey everyone I’ve had my tank cycling for 2 months now and I’ve been pretty on top of cleaning my rock scape of algae and watching my Params. Today after work I noticed a ton of rusty colored algae plus some bubbles trapped into them is this diatoms or Dino’s and what should I do to solve this...
Hi there!
First of all: Thanks for taking time to read my post! Its my first one in this forum... so: Hi :)
I`d create a "reef introduction" post, but with those dinos: Its pain to look at the tank and see the corals struggle.
I am wondering if somebody can help me to identify what kind of Dinos...
Greetings!
I have an established 37 gallon reef tank that recently had an outbreak of dinoflagellates (Ostreopsis). Unfortunately, the tank also has a seal that is going bad (developing some larger bubbles), and so I'm using these circumstances as an opportunity to upgrade to a larger 130.4...
Hey guys, been fighting dinos in the tank for a while. Initially thought it was Cyano since i had a previous cyano outbreak but when water changes and chemi-clean made it worse, figured something was amiss. I was running a heavy-duty Refugium with chaeto, GFO, and Carbon. I have since shut down...
