Can someone please help me identify this nuisance alage I am having for the last 2 months now.
I have an established 5year old SPS dominant system. My Nitrate is between 0-5ppm and my PO4 is 0.04 checked with Hanna URL checker.
All the inhabitants of the tank are doing good.

I’ve got some microscope pictures! I have a Cyanobacteria outbreak, it’s starting to grow over some corals. I used chemiclean 2 weeks ago, did the 20% water change after and have continued with my weekly 10% maintenance changes. The cyano came back way worse, I’ve also been dosing vibrant. I see...
i've found something interesting, so this is my refugium, i stuffed it with a lot of macroalgae, but since the water flow is lacking, there was intense bloom of cyanobacteria
(red slime algae), almost give up on this tank until i put some dead fish there, which a lot of copepods feed into it...
I was wondering if anyone has experience using Easy Life Excital against cyano? I have a cyano issue at the moment and was wondering if this product is effective. I also like that it is a natural product instead of the other chemical treatments available on the market. Any input would be appreciate.
I was wondering if anybody has suggestions for cyano treatments which don't require water changes. I was thinking of using chemiclean or cyanorx but I'm not bothered to do a water change, my nutrients are also undetectable. I also don't mind waiting a few weeks or months for a product to work...
Im battling some red dusty algae all over the sand and rocks in my tank. I have never seen diatoms or cyano present like this so im not sure what it is or how to treat it. Its a fine dust that settles into a sheet on the rocks. Its not the typical dark purple/red of cyano. Its fire engine red...
If I need more quality pics let me know. I’m new to the game so can someone id this for me with what I’ve got? Can iPhones not upload videos to this site?
Have some snot on the back glass, that's growing in an interesting pattern. It's ONLY growing on the glass, and both the turbos and nerites are eating it, so I don't think (fingers crossed) it's dinos. Some of the strings are nearly a foot long, but no bubbles. Where it's growing best is on the...
Set up an Evo 13.5 4ish months ago and have been battling cyano for about a month now. I know it’s likely a bit of new tank syndrome, but I'm getting nowhere, and it just killed my nice chalice. It is especially frustrating as my parameters seem to be quite good and i’m very regimented with...
I have this stuff all over the sand. 5 nitrates, 0.19 phosphate. Any thoughts? Seems too heavy to effectively siphon out. Blows off the rocks and frags very easily. Goes away at night, comes back strong during the day. Orange picture has a yellow lense over the camera, bluer one does not.
Ok, so I have a 15 gallon with a clownfish, royal gramma, cleaner shrimp and cuc. I was having bryopsis issues, got rid of that but now I have green slime algae and red cyano in full force. Lights run from 10:00 to 9:00. I feed the fish every other day and reef roids once, maybe twice a week. I...
I'm just so tired of it and feel like I'm at my whits end. It's been a long 4 month battle and I've tried next to everything except chemical, which I rather just not do. I know I've read plenty of raving review on Chemiclean and others, but many of those just have the problem come right back...
Looking for some help and advice identifying an algae that seems to be popping up throughout my tank. I recently had what I am almost certain to have been cyano bacteria, appeared like a red/purple carpet over sand and some rocks and easily brushed away, and I had dinoflagellates. I believe...
I have what I'm pretty sure is green cyano growing all over my rocks and sand bed in mats that is easily removed by blowing it off of the rock or pulling it out with tweezers. I've been dealing with this for about 2 months by manual removal and water changes, chalking up to a case of "the...
I've been fighting algae in my 55 gallon tank for a year, first with hair algae, and now Cyanobacteria "I know it's not an algae". Water changes haven't helped, GFO isn't helping. I've heard great things about Red Sea Nopox and want to give it a shot. Is it safe to use on a tank without a skimmer?
I've been battling Cyano in my current tank for 3 YEARS. Our previous tank was a 30gal no sump and we had it running for a number of years before upgrading to a 90gal tank. The previous tank had cyano at one point but eventually it just died out on its own- before that I had tried to do large...
Hello, I have posted about my Cyano problem but the algae problem is taken over. I’ve run my skimmer at 20 hours a day for a week now. I have 3 fish, 2 clowns and a gramma. red Shrimp and a star serpant And 7 soft corals. Is my next step turning off the lights for a few days?
thanks
So I have been running this tank for around 2 weeks now (with fish) four weeks without. 2 weeks after I added the fish I noticed this lighter purple algae (I think it's cyano). It would be great to have an ID on this algae/bacteria (aswell as a few other potential pests). I found it odd as this...
Hey guys,
I have Cyanobacteria, pretty positive, as it consistently creates mats of algae on my sand bed, rock, and corals. It’s more of a clinging issue to my zoas, urchin, and rocks. It appears red and won’t stop coming back.
I have tested my parameters to 0 nitrates, ammonia, phosphates...
Hi guys
Got some algae issues. But before I go ahead and do something about it I wanted to ask your help to identify the algae, so I am 100% sure.
I think it’s green and red Cyano bacteria. But will be great if you can please help.
Tank is about 3 months old.
Cheers,
Shiv
Hello, im about to dose BlueLife RedCyano, but im kind of confused about the water change (when).
These are the instructions on the Box
So when i add the Dose for my tank, i should wait 1, 2 or 3 days and after is completely gone, should i make the water change?
What happens if within 1 day...
Hello all!
I started a new tank build yesterday on a 65 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. I’ll update as I go, but here are the pictures so far.
So fricken excited!!
Hey guys, haven’t experienced cyano before. Is this it? Just started in the last week or so? Doing a water change tomorrow, increasing flow- other treatment ideas?
250g tank
Ph 8.3
Nitrate 2.5-5
Phos 0.05
Mag 1365
Ca 400
AlK/dkh 9/3
thanks!!!
What is this? I get so many different answers. Cyano is my final analysis but is it that. Should I get more snails? Which kind preferred? Also should I change the salt that I use? I get it from my LFS.
so apparently I mixed up my waste water container with my water change container for a total of two water changes, one each week and I think the cause of it is this little issue. My tank water smells a bit funny, did a 25% water change to hopefully balance out the 20% I screwed up. I use a...
