I'm wondering how I should go about this and any help is greatly appreciated. My LFS (totally cool people) hooked me up a zoa frag with my order. 2 days later I'm seeing what I believe is aiptasia but I wanted to confirm with the more experienced. If it is indeed aiptasia I have read these are...
Hi everyone,
New to reef tanks and have a couple of items going on with the tank. Tank is about 90 days old 25 gallon I am pretty sure this little guy is an aiptasia ready to pick up a berghia tomorrow if you all confirm. This is the only one if seen but as everyone says if you have you see...
I’ve had some people panic and immediately tell me it’s aiptasia. Some have said it’s white cluster anemone, which I am leaning towards. Or some type of colonial hydroid.
SO - somehow - no clue how - I ended up with some aiptasia anemones. I just tried to kill them with 'removal' - and a month later - I had 50. They weren't spreading - and I personally don't mind them - they didnt seem to hurt anything - when it increased to more than that - I thought - hmmm...
Let me just start by saying what you are about to see might be graphic to some and might cause nightmares/ptsd from others. Long neglected, but heavily fed, what was once a flourishing tropical reef in a box has now turned into...well what looks to be a mix between hades' underworld and a...
I got some corals from WWC about two weeks ago. I didn't dip them upon arrival as I'm new to corals...
I've kept them in a separate tank to monitor them. Here's what I see so far in terms of possible pests/hitchhikers. If you can please help me identify them and possible remedies, I'd be...
Sorry for the long post but some opinions would be helpful in figuring this out. The past 2 weeks my fish have unexpectedly died. I have 2 ideas why but information online is conflicting.
My aquarium; 90 gallons, 20 Gallon sump, its about 4 months old. I had a 75 gallon and upgraded to this...
Hear me out!
I’m considering breeding berghia nudis as a side project. They exclusively eat aiptasia, so does anyone know how to make those ugly anemones multiply quickly?

I’m pretty new to the saltwater world, so I’m trying to figure out if this is baby Aiptasia or something else. I have Aiptasia in other parts of my tank that I’m already dealing with. Thanks!
Hi all just wondering if anyone got any experience on here in buying and raising aptasia eating berghia nudibranch Eggs to deal with Aiptasia control, my display is free of aips but I want to deal with the ones on the weir and in the sump. And am definitely not sending my CP in there as is thigh...
Hi there!
Last night I discovered a few tiny Aiptasias on a rock that came with a coral. (Like the frag plugs, just that its a tiny rock.)
As far as I can tell the aiptasias are only on that rock. I am wondering how to face them appropriately.
I was wondering if its an idea to take the coral...
Can anyone tell me why these things are? There’s about 30 of them all throughout my tank, and they’re all about the same size. My friend says they’re aiptasia, but I like variety of opinions.
A littleback story.. a few days ago my peppermint shrimp was seen trying to take food from my duncans. On my IG @spellboundreefing a handful of people warned about them eating their coral and that I should take him out.
Today I went looking for my peppermint ship my duncans ATE HIM! They look...
Hi guys.
I bought a zoa colony from the LFS. A healthy colony. A werk later i noticed these tiny (5mm) fan like think protruding between the zoas.
I thought it was aiptasia and tried aiptasia x. The little bugger was to fast and this was not successful.
I then tried superglue. This didn’t...
So I got home yesterday and noticed a little something extra growing on my emerald crab.
Is it aiptasia?
Is this normal?
Have yall seen this?
What should I do?

I didn't know about this.....or it's an individual quirk. I have a small 1 inch (ish) square boxfish, very light yellow in colour with grey/blue spots. It's eating brine shrimp readily and is really not shy of movement around the tank. Tonight I observed him decimating a small colony of aiptasia...
Hi reefers!
Little question, I bought a couple of live rock and i noticed that there's a lot of little greenish button polyp or Aiptasia. Altough, i am not sure what is that. It seems to move a bit and not i have them everywhere in my tank...
Do you have any cue on what is that thing? And how...
Hi @Randy Holmes-Farley
can you please advice if there is anything concerning on my DIY Aiptasia killing solution?
I have been using this recipe for around 4 years, without a problem, on my SPS dominated reef tanks and my experience is positive. However, I was wondering if it could be...
Hello, I have a bit of a small aiptasia infestation in one of my tanks, I have tried using aiptasia x, but for every one I kill, 10 more take its place. Will a filefish help, or is it a lost battle?
I also found a bonded pair of filefish for sale, but can't find anything on how that works, any...
Looking to sell now that they have done their job. Completely cleared out an infested 180g. $6 each pick up in Port St Lucie, FL. Will consider trades for specific corals.
Not shipping at this time.
has anyone ever had success on dealing with an aiptasia problem using peppermint shrimp? I am on my last nerve right now and thinking about getting a couple to kill them. I know you have to get a specific kind of peppermint shrimp in order for it to work but even then, it is still a hit or miss...
