...be able to grow corals well. That being said, I don't have experience in a 12" tall tank with them, so I too would be interested to see PAR #s. Blindly, without PAR readings, I would be tempted to go 6 hours on the second channel instead of 4.
There is a possibility that the patches are...
...was at work. I had used the manual dosing option to bump up my alk a little to see if my current dosing program would be enough to hold my target #s. Does anyone know if the machine was still dosing my scheduled doses while I was gone? Asking because I want to know if my test results for...
...25ppm nitrate, and .1-ish phosphate
You have a MUCH better chance of killing your corals, killing color, and growth with too low of nutrients.
have HIGH import and HIGH export. Do not chase super low #s. the risk reward is way worse than bein ga little too high. FWIW, ALL the vendors who...
...parameters, lets just say nitrate 5ppm and phos .04 ppm,. One tank that HEAVILY feeds and another one that barely feeds can end up w/ the same #s.
I use filter pads, skimmer. fuge and water changes. My acros LOVE water changes. That said I'll never use GFO ever again as it crashed my tank...
...the chaeto is growing great. It took about 2 weeks to triple in volume, and I’ve harvested/pulled out half of total several times - it just regrows. I rinsed it in tap water and gave it to my chickens (!). I can’t say I noticed much drop in NO3 or PO4 - nitrate is solidly around 15 ppm and...
...service manuals usually (but check first a snot always) available right from the product webpages which shows how to tear it down and has part #s. With units that require removing adhesively attached feet and replacing the keyboard requires removing the motherboard among other parts from the...
I'ld work on getting params upped - all of them Alk, Cal & Mag (I'll bet Mag is low also) Your corals will be happier #s. I shoot for 8ish dkh, Cal about 450 and mag in the upper 1300s. Don't overlook SG (1.026) and temp 78-79degrees.
I have been experiencing this at work, been using Salifert to dismiss results that are not in line with whats expected, also, even without observing "floaters" I have been noticing variation in results between lot #s.
Interested to see others experience, as well as an explanation from hanna.
Are you using mixed salt water for top off water? That would explain you high #s. When water evaporates, salt doesn't. Just use straight RODI water for top offs.
we always get triton icp higher than our hanna #s. last month we hanna'd 0.00, and we immediately took a triton sample, which came back at 0.019xx

I would just sit tight and let tank cycle. Ammonia is first step (and it's not that high to worry) test like every other day and track your results. It's hard to say where the #s are with all the things you threw at it from the beginning so it's best not to over-react and watch the #s. You'll be...
...BB removes a multitude of deadspots where uneaten food decomposes into NO3/PO4
pH is a stupid number to chase. Many many many posts verify this....
As long as your above 7.7, dont even give that pH number a second thought. Heck your pH probe might be giving you false number....or your pH...
...are pretty stable.(Alk 8.5, Cal 450, Mag 1300, SG 1.026 - nitrates and Phos nearly zero) PH fluctuates a little in summertime with AC on but other than that I dose minimal 2 part and ATO is straight RO water. I find keeping it simple (and my hands out of tank) has been better than chasing #s.
Ah well.im only at 496... now 97 messages. O try to keep them relevant and not just for adding #s. I've been on this site for a very long time. And another forum for that's named after the local big (apple) city form where I came. I was super active on there. But it became a bit ugly...
