Its funny. I'd consider #2, #4, and #5 to be absolutely true based on experience. Yeah hermits kill snails, but they also eat a ton of algae.
Totally agree on #3 and #7 though! With the caveat that if I could drive all bristleworms on the planet extinct I'd do it in a heartbeat. I get painful...
...pumps. These were the very first truly silent pumps that I saw in the hobby.
They were known for running very warm. A single P4 ( models #2, #3,#4) could add 4-5 degrees to a 100 gallon tank.
They were a external only pump
What I did to be able to use them was to get a small clip-on fan ( 6")...
Pic #2, with a plywood skin and plywood top would be laterally stable and plenty strong.
You could build the whole thing out of 3/4" veneered plywood with screws and glue and it would be plenty strong enough. I had a plywood only stand for a 75g and 120g that was just fine.
Thanks @Vinny@GHLUSA
My Profilux 3 is master (#1) and the 3 lights run as slaves and are set on the same channel as #2, #3 and #4 respectively. All lighting programs work as expected.
I connected to each of the lights and set 2 channels to 50% for Maintenance 3, every other channel to 0% and...
...chose to stick it out for the sake of us kids, and got a divorce after he finished putting us through college. He is MUCH happier with wife #2, who actually appreciates him and supports his passions. This was a really, really expensive option.
that’s option 1.
option 2, stop sacrificing...
Bonus entry #1, #2, #3, and #4
1. I love the relatively low energy consumption of this powerhead considering its versatility and power.
2. I am currently running the 1k icecap gyre.

...if you are concerned. My dosages happen at the same time directly to my display over powerheads, therefore the solution dissipates instantly.
#2, the only thing I can think of for the magnesium dosage is that dosing magnesium plays a role in minimizing abiotic precipitation. So as long as...
...1. Power ON light
2. Connect to GHLDEV network
3. Open GHL Connect app
4. Add a new device, select the LX7, give this connection a name (LX7 hotspot), leave HOST as-is
5. Connect to LX7
6. Set to Master or slave, set address to consecutive numbers (Master- Address #1, Slave 1 - Address #2, etc.)
Except for pic #2, That looks more like Cyano. Pic #2 could be Dino's, but need a shot with way less blue.
Dino's looks like a green slime with long strands with bubbles at the tip.
The common Cyano is red/burgandy and also slimy but without the bubbles
The Varios2 pump at full-on speed had a return of around 460gph with a 4ft head pressure... since you are only on setting #2, I'd assume you are only around 100gph return possibly. I'd think you'd want it to be much higher, even in a 40g tank.
Here's the head pressure chart for your pump...

For baking soda you'll want to follow Randy's recipe "Recipe #2, Part 2: The Alkalinity Part": http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php#11
It's basically the same as the BRS formula, so for calculating dosing amounts you can use the BRS calculator...
...Another thing to consider is what you use to dose alk. Kalkwasser will raise pH a bit more than other supplements. I use Randy-Holmes recipe #2, which also is a high pH additive.
One last thing I'm curious about is your housing situation. I live in an LA apartment and during the summer...
...And to top it all off I never moved the colony I originally wanted to....SHOULDA HAD A BEER I STEAD OF PUTTING MY HANDS IN THE TANK!
example #2, did this years ago, couldn't find a fish I recently bought do I went searching. Dumb. Again stirred everything up scared the crap out of...
...Power for saltwater tank pump ) to turn on as directed by the AWC/ATO setup.
I have Drain water pump connected to Switch port #1, Fill Saltwater to switch port #2, and Fill ATO on switch port #3.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the name/setting/whatever in the Programable Logic...
For example,
This pic shown starts at 8am, so from program #1 to #2, the light will incrementally brightens, between the time period 8am to 10am, system will start slowly increase power until it reaching set point at 10am LED power values. Then from #4 to #5, the LED values is decrease it will...
...tank-related tasks I find the most tedious are doing water changes and water testing. Been running an AWS for a couple of years now, so that takes care of drudgery #1; trident takes care of drudgery #2, but only partly. ...polyp extension and my RBTA had shrunk/shrivelled, but my tridacnae seemed fine. I immediately switched my alk solution for the original Recipe #2, and I also gently fed some CO2 directly into the skimmer to bring the pH slowly back down. Luckily no losses seem to have resulted. I am...
...about 2/3 full of live rock (can #1) and the other just houses additional water (can #2). When I want to do a water change, I just close off can #2, drain it, mix new saltwater, and then open it back up to the system. The question is: Would I be better off using can #2 as an auto water...
