When different types of mushroom coral grow into each others “space” I have not witnessed a problem with stinging to date.

I was wondering if two different zoanthid colonies grow into each other is it common that they start some type of warfare with each other or is that something that transpires only on a case by case basis?

I agree with Stix, I do not believe that there will be chemical warfare as they all exist within the same species. You will and can have a type of zoanthid that will out grow and grow over another type of zoanthid till very few if any will be existent on the same rock.....
