Hey guys,I'm observing my zoas with the daytime lights on. This is a new colony that was placed, it's grown quite a bit it was only 3 heads, but now it's looking kinda funny in the day time lights. I may be paranoid but I wanted to post a picture just in case. See img and let me know!

PH 8.2

Alk 8.5

Magnesium 1380

Calcium 420

Ammonia 0

Nitrite 0

Nitrate 3ppm

Phosphate 0.03

Salinity is 1.026

Temp is constant 78-80

Flow is very strong, everything is off the back of the aquarium.

It's a newer tank but cycled, I only put the two corals and I check water every other day.

It has a newer skimmer (that is currently dumping bubbles, could this be it?)

It has a refugium with Chaeto growing.

It has a UV Sterilizer

If you could post a picture in white lights and closer up to the zoas so we can see what exactly is on them.

Ahh perfect! Also it looks like thats a baby aiptasia anemone (a nightmare creature in my opinion) They are extremely hardy, usually come into tanks as hitchhikers and take over the entire tank. They reproduce to an insane extent. I recommend getting it out as quickly as possible

other ways to get rid of it are F-aiptasia or Aiptasia-X. Filefish will sometimes eat it, for nanos Berghia nudibranchs will only eat aiptasia but I would only use them if its an insane amount of them cause once the aiptasia are gone the nudibranchs will starve. Certain types of peppermint shrimp will also eat them but they might nip at other corals.

ahh I see my bad :grinning-face-with-sweat:, and true that everything is so pricey now! When using aip-x make sure to turn off all flow and let the water settle so you don't blast your zoas or other corals with it!

Is the frag plug or rubble rock still glued under the zoas? Even if 1-2 polyps are grown on the rock personally I would pull it, possibly try and use bone cutters to trim as much as possible off there to help in your process of getting rid of it. Even if that meant sacrificing a few polys to cut where it is out.
Again only trying to help and just my opinion I would also think about how much a replacement frag cost vs a bottle of aip-x!

Best of luck in your battle, sending good vibes your way!

I actually have a coral QT tank going right now, so I can do that easy I think but we'll see

That did the trick, unless I messed up and the lil demon moved. Followed the directions down to a T. Pretty sure he ate that putty and imploded himself, I took out one zoa polyp in the process but the rest is good.

I had difficulty getting Aiptasia-X to completely kill each aiptasia. They multiplied quickly and often were at angles that would not hold the A-X in place long enough. I eventually bought a CopperBand Butterfly. In a week's time the 125 gallon tank was clean.
