First of all, I am not sure xenia is considered sps or not.
For 2-3 weeks now, my xenia is not doing well. It’s not pulsing. I tried to examine it closely and it has bumps all over the stalks. Always retracted.
I have a hair algae bloom which is subsiding now. What could be the reason?

Could be the coral gods are blessing you with dying xenia. I kid, in all seriousness they like water a little "dirtier" (some p04/n03). The algae may be consuming the nutrients before the xenia. Just a guess though. Pics and parameters will help with a diagnosis

The algae doesn't look that bad. Light could be a little intense for it. What size tank and fish/bio load do you have?
Most of the hair algae is gone. The last 2 -3 weeks were baddddd!
4 small hermits. 2 turbos, 2 clowns and a small chromis. It is a 29 gallon tank. The salinity, ammonia, nitrite ,nitrate And ph didn’t really change .. I do a weekly test and adjust water etc .

When I first started mine struggled. I let the water get more nutrients in it and put it in a little shadier area with gentler flow. That seemed to allow it to thrive.
Ill do that. And keep you guys posted. Thank you.

Do you have other corals? How are they doing?

Of all the corals I’ve introduced thus far, pulsing xenias are the only ones that failed, twice.

Maybe the coral gods have blessed me as well.
I have a gsp and a nephthea. Gsp is doing great. My nephthea is a little bit of a drama queen.. so I am not worried about how it’s doing. The xenias are scaring me

I would follow this. They look angry. Did you touch them by any chance?

They are beautiful corals. A lot of times it's guests favorite coral in the tank..it's kind of hypnotizing. The problem is when it spreads and messes with future tastes. If I remember correctly mine failed at first too. You can always give it another go if it does.
