Would You Recommend this RO/DI System ???

I've been researching and shopping for an RO/DI System, and I think I've narrowed it down to this one:

Would you recommend this one or is there a different one I should consider ?

I would save a $150 and get this one. 2 carbon blocks is overkill unless you are dealing with high chlorimines. You can always add a second DI unit if you want. Better to have a handheld tds meter than the inline ones.

I agree that it's a bit overkill if you don't have chloramines in your supply water, but certainly will work well if you don't mind spending the extra cash.

1 is likely fine and 2 is good insurance.

I like my calibrated inline TDS meters and line up well with my handheld one.

I looked at this one, and it's only $20 less than the BRS 6-Stage with meters. Are you saying that this 4-Stage unit is better ?

Nothing compares to Spectrapure, 30+ years in the industry and they are the ones who introduced RO to the reef hobby. No other vendor specially treats all their RO membranes to increase their efficiency and blends all their own DI resins in house. These two things alone double or triple the life of the DI over any other system on the market meaning your cost of producing water is much less. I would never go back to anything else again.

I'm fully aware of spectrapure's ratings and capabilities. They are good. As I said, I would be happy with any unit from spectrapure, buckeye hydro, or BRS.

It all depends on what you have in your water. I have a four stage spectrapure at work with a booster pump. The TDS unfiltered there is 70, so even though there is a DI, really don't even need it, even after many months of use. At home I have the BRS 4 stage. It cost less. Fine product. Would buy another no issue. With a tds around 130 at home I am able to piggyback a second membrane, still only getting 1-2 TDS before the DI. No need for a booster pump and I can fill up my 35 gallon container in six hours. Filters last a long time in all.

Each canister and membranes = 1 stage.

You could customize them to be anything you want.

Could go 2 sediment, 1 carbon, membrane, 1 anion, 1 cation.

or

1 sediment, 1 CAC, 1 block, membrane, 1 silica buster di, 1 mixed bed regular di

etc.

Spectrapure is the best place to buy Spectrapure units, so you know you're getting authentic filters and resins.

I'm lucky, they're local for me, but I love my 90 gal per day with manual flush valve. I added a switch to get plain RO water for our water cooler.

Straight from spectrapure or MarineDepot carries their stuff now too. Personally, I would call them and talk to them about your needs and water quality and they can get you steered to the right unit for you.

Is the "automatic flush" on the SpectraPure worth the extra money over the "manual flush" ? They have so many units with different features, what are the "must have" features that I should be looking for ?

Either way you go get a flush valve. I flush mine before and after every time I fill up my barrel. Both of mine are manual.
