Would Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 fit on this?

Attempting to pick out a HOB protein skimmer for my 44 gal tank. Based on reviews, I’m leaning toward the Aquamaxx HOB 1.5, but I also have a canopy over the tank and am not sure if it would fit over the rim or if the water level would be too low. Any thoughts? Open to other HOB suggestions as well.
